One more sleep until my Snowy 2.0 court case, which might ultimately prevent officials entering into confidentiality agreements that prevent taxpayers accessing performance info about publicly funded projects. Itās an open court - transparency die-hards are welcome. #FOI #auspol
The Govt enters into $100B worth of contracts each year, all with confidentiality terms that prevent citizens from knowing if the contractor is performing well. If I win in the Full Federal Court next week, thatāll all change. #transparency #Snowy #auspol michaelwest.com.au/snowy-bloā¦

Things continue to get worse because bean counters like this have taken over most if not all leadership positions in sports. āActually the data on audio streaming shows us thatā¦ā No one cares. No one cares. Not everything gets to be a transaction.
Baseball on the radio is the Costco $1.50 hot dog and soda combo. Itās a loss leader that keeps people engaged on their fishing boat, in the tractor during harvest season, on a long road trip.
Color me shocked that the former president of the worst run team in big four sports thinks this way. Itās no wonder the Marlins never cut through if this is how their leadership thinks.
Replying to @DavidPSamson
@DavidPSamson says MLB no longer needs radio: "We don't need baseball on radio anymore." The former Marlins president predicts on Nothing Personal that "radio will go the way of Kodak and Blockbuster." @JohnMamola has more. #MLB

something that makes me sad, not in a trad way, is that public buildings used to be designed to be places that were both functional and served as celebrations of art and architecture. they were supposed to feel important and grand.

The Teals say "We need more housing. But not here. My neighbourhood is special".
If everyone acted like this, nothing would be built.
Central governments need to over-ride narrow-minded localism for the greater good.
Everyone needs to do their share.

Palantir's merch feels like the endpoint in streetwear's evolution, which started with young kids in urban areas āĀ mostly ethnic minorities from low-income families āĀ creating their own style from the ground up. Over time, that aesthetic was co-opted by luxury brands seeking "authenticity." And now, by a surveillance company seeking cultural capital.
Streetwear used to be an aesthetic defined by the ground-up by people were disempowered in political and economic life, but engaged in actual street culture. Now it's an aesthetic dictated from the top down by giant corporations with no conenction to such cultures. And used by political and economic elites who want to appear as outsiders.

looking forward to cafe owners explaining why they "HAVE TO" put prices up 50 cents to cover the loss of an 8 cent surcharge
The Albanese government's new "cost of living measure" could lift coffee prices by as much as six per cent, costing cafe-goers an extra $130 per year.

It's incredibly important to aggressively resist the idea that AI can be conscious or have "personhood," not only because it's as ridiculous as believing that a book can think, but because once this is accepted, "AI's interests" will very quickly be prioritized over humanity.

Hereās the video of the interaction, worse than I remembered.
I have spoken at more council meetings in more different councils than probably anyone in Sydney over the last four years. Iāve never encountered a mayor as combative and unprofessional as this.
The Mayor of Woollahra took my address from the registration form, snooped on realestate.com.au and made a snide comment about the value of my apartment during this questioning.
Straightforward breach of the Code of Conduct and privacy violation. Iāll be making a complaint

First aircraft hit the CASA register a short while ago! Cherrie Aviation Pty Ltd was only registered on 20 August 2026. No sign of an AOC with CASA yet!

Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects.
Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.

i think about this a lot. many systems work the way they do because there's natural friction for going through the process of, say, making a complaint, booking something or offering to buy something.
