Really cool video of 24 hours of flights over Sydney in just over 90 seconds. Cool thing is that you can buys these as a printed picture to frame and put on your wall!

There, fixed it 🤣🤣 "Travellers flying into the old Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport could face taxi fares reaching almost $200 to get to Penrith, with pressure now growing on the NSW government to introduce fixed prices."

What are we working on at the moment? In June we published a detailed analysis of Qantas's A321XLR entry into service. Now it's time to have a look at the A220. With more data at our disposal, we're taking a look at reliability & network strategy! analyticflying.com/p/qantass…

Qantas A321XLR doing circuits at Avalon again for flight deck crew training. They’ve been doing it most Saturdays since late September preparing for a significant increase in flying early in the new year!

Lufty are being clever telling the market they're funding TAP purchase from available cash-on-hand. It's technically true, their financial reports tell us how they're generating that cash & it's not through excellent operational performance! Over last 18m they've increased fleet size by 5, but leased aircraft by 14 meaning they're refinancing unencumbered aircraft through SLB transactions. 1H26 report was pretty direct. Basically, they're pawning several B787s to buy TAP!

Qantas did the A380 LHR↔️DRS switcheroo yesterday! 🛬OQJ finished C-check at DRS & positioned to LHR as QF6038, operating QF2 to SYD! 🛫OQD arrived at LHR as QF1 & positioned to DRS as QF6037 for D-check! How long are D-checks taking? See our latest⬇️ analyticflying.com/p/just-ho…

Wins isn't the verb I'd be using 🤣 Alternative verbs in order of appropriateness to describe this: 🟢Picked 🟢Selected 🟠Secures 🔴Burdened

Still no news from Virgin Australia yet on their (expected) counter application for the new Australia-Indonesia capacity. IASC set a deadline of 19 October, so we should be hearing from them any day now!
And there we have it, Qantas & Jetstar want nearly all the additional Indonesia seats: 🔴New daily Perth-Jakarta 🔴Increase Melbourne-Jakarta & Bali to daily 🔴New daily Brisbane-Bali 🟠New daily Western Sydney-Bali

United have an amazing feature on their IFE that allows passengers to listen into FDC/ATC comms. It's great during early & final phases of flight, however it's rightfully at the discretion of the crew who nearly universally leave it turned off. Over promise, under deliver!
Will it work? 95% sure it won’t….

Lufty's death spiral continues! Return on assets is so poor that it struggles to modernise its fleet. So what does it do? Divert scarce capital at another underperforming subsidiary to add even further complexity to their already wildly complex business!

It's almost as if airlines have been putting on a brave face in the hope that fuel prices will change. They haven't and they're starting to get very worried!

Doesn't get the limelight, but Qantas Freight are in the midst of a major fleet replacement! 🔴7th A321 P2F freighter (VH-XF7) arrived last month; 8th (XF8) & 9th on the way! 🔴1st 5 replaced B737s (2020-24); 6-9 replacing BAe 146s following shift of overnight ops to WSI (SYD was restricted to 146s)

A350-1000ULR's test programme has been quiet recently as it shares attention with the A350F! F-WULR hasn't flown in over a month (since 2 Sept) with just 6 flights since her record breaking 24h flight at the end of July. So far she's clocked over 90h over 22 sectors!
Qantas's A350-1000ULR test programme has been active again. Since her 1st flight on 2 June, F-WULR has flown a just over 13 hours across 5 flights. She did two short flights on Friday after an 11 day pause. Longest flight so far just 4:09, so yet to stretch her legs!

Didn’t expect Qantas to end its domestic codeshare with Air New Zealand. Qantas certainly had more to gain! For context, this is in response to Virgin & Air NZ seeking ACCC approval for a more extensive bilateral codeshare & partnership. aerosouthpacific.com/blogs/n…

After two recent overnight Australia-Asia flights (8 hours long), what's a reasonable expectation of "lights off" time in economy class? Trying to work out if I'm being unreasonable 🤣

Seeing posts about British Airways's new A380 config like "most premium-heavy aircraft flying" & "most premium-heavy aircraft ever" In fact it's not even BA's most premium-heavy aircraft! Their B777-300 has same premium density as A380 (48%) but higher F/J density (33 vs 28%)!

London Heathrow on the left & Atlanta on the right: ATL handles double the movements with negligible holding while LHR's stacks are clearly visible in these 24h visuals! The difference? ATL has 5 parallel runways, LHR just 2. If only LHR could build more runways?!

Reading the ATSB report published last week shows this had nothing to do with ATC staffing or fatigue. Simply the tug driver not following ATC instructions and confusing two Jetstar A320s for each other.
Headline doesn't tell the whole story! Jetstar A320 was under its own power taxiing for departure. Qatar B777 was under tow from stand 32 to a remote stand where both had to stop suddenly. Not a great situation but shouldn't take long for ATSB to ascertain what happened!
