I worry that the Church today has become too deep. So deep that we may be losing the simplicity of the Gospel. Material prosperity, spiritual experiences, revelations, and displays of power have increasingly become our measures of spiritual excellence. I sometimes wonder whether the world’s culture of self-interest has quietly found its way into Christianity. So much of our faith now seems to revolve around what we can receive, acquire, and become. But love is outward. It turns our attention away from ourselves and towards others. What happened to being the salt of the earth and the light of the world? What happened to loving your neighbour as yourself? What happened to the Good Samaritan, who saw a suffering stranger and made his troubles his own concern? Our Lord taught us to let our light shine before men, that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. Imagine if Christians were vessels of God’s love in the communities around them. If the hungry were fed, the broken comforted, and the needy cared for. Wouldn’t those communities have a testimony of Christ for themselves? Wouldn’t their experience of Christian love speak louder than the accusations made against the Church? Yet today, we can become so occupied with defending a man of God that we forget the very souls we have been called to win. Did our Lord not commission us to make disciples of all nations? Did “all” exclude those who criticize our pastors? Those who insult us? Those who oppose the Church? Have we forgotten that these, too, are souls Christ died to save? Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 13 that even if we possess prophecy, understand all mysteries, and have faith that can move mountains, without love we are nothing. What a sobering measure of spiritual excellence! I fear that we have become so fascinated by what Christianity can do for us that we are forgetting what Christ intended to do through us. What happened to the excellence of winning souls?

PRESS RELEASE CLARIFICATION: WITHDRAW OF RECOGNITION OF THE BACHELOR OF PHARMACY (BPHARM) PROGRAM AT MBARARA UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (MUST) 1. We make reference to a Public Notice from the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda, claiming withdrawal of the recognition of the Bachelor of Pharmacy Program at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. 2. The National Council for Higher Education is mandated under Section 4d (ii) of the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act Cap. 262, to ‘receive, consider and process applications for accreditation of academic and professional programmes of higher education institutions, in consultation with professional associations and regulatory bodies.’ 3. The National Council for Higher Education is further mandated under Section 4(f) of the Act to “receive and investigate complaints relating to institutions of higher education and take appropriate action.” 4. The mandate of recognition of academic qualifications rests with the National Council for Higher Education, as mandated under Section 4(i) of the Act. Given the above statutory provisions, National Council for Higher Education would like to clarify as follows: 1. The Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at Mbarara University of Science and Technology was first accredited by the National Council for Higher Education in 2010. Since then, the programme has received multiple re-accreditations. The most recent re-accreditation was granted on 30th January 2025, for the programme to run up to 2036. All the re-accreditations have been granted in consultation with the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda, as required under Section 4d (ii) of the Act. 2. The National Council for Higher Education was neither involved nor consulted in the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda’s unilateral decision to withdraw its recognition of the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. 3. Withdrawalof recognition of qualifications of graduates of a given programme or academic institution is the preserve of the National Council for Higher Education. 4. Mbarara University had an Associate Professor of Pharmacy heading the Department of Pharmacy until July 2026 when he resigned to join another academic institution on promotion to full Professor. The University temporarily engaged a Senior Lecturer, with a nursing background but holding a PhD in Pharmacology from Ghent University in Belgium, to head the Department. The current Acting Head of Department of the Pharmacy Department is a Pharmacist who also serves as the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda. 5. National Council for Higher Education categorically states that: a) The Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at Mbarara University of Science and Technology is fully accredited. b) The accreditation has not been withdrawn by the National Council for Higher Education. c) The teaching and learning of the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at Mbarara University of Science and Technology should continue. 6. The National Council for Higher Education remains open to receiving and investigating complaints related to higher education institutions in Uganda. unche.or.ug/clarification-wi…

I'm Hiring! Paralegal – Legal & Corporate Affairs Can be based in Uganda, Kenya, or anywhere! I am seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Paralegal/Lawyer to join our administrative and legal operations team supporting our U.S.-based construction, real estate development, and affiliated businesses. This position will work directly with executive management, our existing administrative team, and outside legal counsel in the United States. The primary focus will be supporting litigation, legal research, contract administration, corporate matters, and legal document management. We are looking for someone who can think like a businessperson while approaching issues from a legal perspective, independently research issues, organize complex information, manage multiple legal matters, and proactively complete assignments without constant supervision. Knowledge of U.S. law is not required, but you'll be expected to figure it out through independent research. Key Responsibilities: * Assist with litigation matters, including discovery, document collection, organization, and preparation of legal records. * Maintain litigation files, legal calendars, deadlines, case summaries, and matter tracking systems. * Coordinate with outside attorneys to collect information, prepare documentation, and respond to legal requests. * Utilize Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Purview eDisovery, and other technology platforms to improve the efficiency and organization of legal activities. * Organize and analyze large volumes of electronic documents, emails, financial records, and other information relevant to legal matters. * Prepare written summaries, chronologies, reports, and documentation for executive management and outside counsel. * Assist with reviewing, organizing, and preparing contracts, agreements, legal correspondence, and other legal documents. * Assist with corporate governance, entity filings, licensing, compliance, and maintaining corporate records. Qualifications: * Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or equivalent legal qualification strongly preferred. * At least 3 years of experience working in a legal, paralegal, litigation support, or corporate legal environment. * EXCELLENT oral and written communication skills in English, including professional legal writing. * Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. * Extremely strong organizational skills and attention to detail. * Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other Microsoft Office applications, including Copilot and Purview eDiscovery. * Must be extraordinarily proficient in ChatGPT (including ChatGPT Work). * Ability to independently research unfamiliar legal subjects and learn new procedures and technology. * Experience with litigation, contracts, corporate law, real estate, or construction law is a plus. * Experience with U.S. legal matters is a plus, but NOT required. * Must demonstrate discretion, professionalism, and strict confidentiality. * Proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines. * Ability to access reliable, high-quality internet. Additional Information: * This position is remote and open to qualified candidates based in Uganda, Kenya, or other locations outside the United States. * The engagement is intended to be a full-time (40-60 hours/week) independent professional services arrangement, subject to applicable laws and the final written agreement. * Must be available during U.S. Eastern Time business hours, generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with an anticipated service commitment of approximately 40-60 hours per week. Occasional additional availability may be required based on business needs and mutually agreed arrangements. * International contractors will be required to provide appropriate U.S. tax documentation before payment, including a completed IRS Form W-8BEN for eligible foreign individuals or Form W-8BEN-E for qualifying foreign entities, as applicable. * Services are expected to be performed remotely from outside the United States. Any proposed performance of services while physically present in the United States must be disclosed and approved in advance, as different tax and legal requirements may apply. * Contractors will be responsible for their own applicable local taxes, benefits, registrations, and statutory obligations, subject to applicable law. * Must provide your own computer, reliable internet connection, and communication equipment (microphone/headphones/etc.). * This engagement requires substantial professional availability and commitment. Outside employment or business activities that create conflicts of interest, compromise confidentiality, or interfere with agreed service commitments are not permitted. * This position provides an opportunity to gain significant experience working with U.S. legal matters, corporate operations, and construction-related litigation, but does NOT guarantee or imply any visa-related actions for the United States. * The successful candidate must be capable of working independently, taking initiative, and completing assignments with minimal supervision. Submit the following to: [email protected] * Email with the subject line: Paralegal – YOUR NAME CV / Resume * Email explaining your legal experience, why you are interested in the position, and your experience working with international or U.S.-based organizations. * Your compensation requirements in your local currency (UGX, KES, or other applicable local currency – NOT USD). * Brief description of your legal research experience, including the types of legal matters you have worked on and your level of responsibility. * Why you want to work with me. Opportunity is there. Take it. #HIRINGNOW #hiring #Paralegal #LegalJobs #UgandaJobs #KenyaJobs #RemoteJobs Please repost!
