My third engagement today as High Sheriff took me to Curzon Ashton where the Chelsea Pensioners Outreach roadshow were holding a special drop in session for veterans. What a joy it was - music, chat and camaraderie. They were also highlighting the services and groups available.

Today as High Sheriff I visited a great event run and organised by volunteers. Mottram Show Chair Mike Martin took us round and he is rightly proud of everything the group has achieved. Good to meet up with the Deputy Mayor of Tameside, Jonathan Reynolds MP and Miss Manchester.

My first engagement today as High Sheriff was to open the open day at the Shakespeare garden in Platt Fields, brought back to life by loving volunteers. Three of the Bard’s plays feature Sheriffs so I felt at home. Well worth a visit!

Great day at Lancashire Mining Museum at Astley Green. Met so many amazing volunteers who passionately tell the story of mining - steam trains, engines, real stories, art, heritage. No wonder they hold the coveted Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

My final engagement tonight was an emotional one. As High Sheriff of Greater Manchester I joined the amazing Bury Fire Choir and Liv’s Trust as we remembered those who lost their lives and suffered as a result of the Manchester Arena atrocity 9 years ago.
