I spent a few hours yesterday at what remains a major incident. Scale of this wildfire is vast. Physically demanding & incredibly challenging environment for my firefighters to work in & they’ve been at this 24/7 for over a week - their professionalism as always is first class🚒

Our crews continue to work tirelessly in extremely challenging conditions as they respond to the moorland fires at Dovestone and Swineshaw. We would like to thank the gamekeeping community and @unitedutilities as well as @DerbyshireFRS, @LancashireFRS, @HWFire and @SWFireandRescue and all other partners for their continued support as we remain focused on containing the fires, reducing hotspots and preventing further spread across the moorland.

Sad news and brave to share: as a man and as a journalist and colleague he is always great to work with and alongside.
Alzheimer's Society

Veteran news anchor Jon Snow has shared that he’s living with dementia, speaking publicly for the first time to raise awareness of a condition affecting around 1 million people across the UK. Jon and his wife, neurologist Dr Precious Lunga, are supporting Alzheimer’s Society @alzheimerssoc and shared the story of Jon’s diagnosis in @DailyMail as part of our Defeating Dementia campaign with the newspaper. dailymail.com/tvshowbiz/arti… We’ve partnered with Jon, in association with @Channel4, on a powerful new documentary airing on 20 June. Jon Snow: A Last Big Story looks at how he’s navigating life with dementia, and how, when we all come together, we can change the story. Thank you to Jon and Precious for their courage and openness to bring much-needed attention to dementia 💙 @jonsnowC4 Photo credit: Cynthia R Matonhodze
