A fab-u-lous evening as High Sheriff - and as one of the panel of judges - at Dancing Strictly Manchester at Bury Met. A great evening raising lots of money for charity. Thank you to tonight’s consort Jane Hodson and to her husband Glyn for acting as attendant.

As High Sheriff tonight it was a pleasure to attend the Czech National Day celebrations at the historic Chetham’s School. I joined the Lord-Lieutenant, the Mayor of Tameside and the Deputy Mayor of Stockport along with many Consul Generals. The music and singing was wonderful.

At certain times of day, sunlight streaming through the Great Nave creates a pathway of light from a historic #Franciscan mosaic towards the altar 💫 The mosaic bears the words Deus Meus et Omnia (My God & my all) a phrase associated with St Francis. 📷️ Carl 🙏 #Manchester

We are so saddened to learn of the death of our great friend, Henry Rice, who has died aged 100. Normandy Veteran Henry was a Signalman serving on HMS Eastway, which was a Landing Ship used to supply men and equipment to the various beaches. HMS Eastway arrived off Juno Beach on D-Day +5. Henry was one of the first Veterans to visit the Memorial after its completion in October 2021, and has visited every year since thanks to our partners Spirit of Normandy Trust. His passion for remembrance was truly humbling. We will miss Henry so very, very much. His beaming smile, infectious warmth and wonderful zest for life brought such joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him. We send our deepest condolences to the Rice family and all Henry's friends. Rest in Peace, dear Henry. ❤️ 📷 This is Henry at the Memorial a few months ago for the 82nd anniversary commemorations. Credit - Florence Marsac / British Normandy Memorial
