🚲💚🧡 7,000,000 rides. What an incredible year it's been so far. To celebrate our 7 millionth ride of 2026, we surprised Lucas with a Bike Share Toronto membership at Jarvis & Carlton. Why there? Because Jarvis & Carlton is where it all began. It's home to the very first Bike Share Toronto station. That milestone got us reflecting on the journey. Since launching in 2011, Bike Share Toronto has grown into a network of 1,074 stations and 11,890 bikes across the city. Today, riders use Bike Share Toronto to commute, connect with their communities, and explore the city, with Centre Island Station now the busiest station in the entire network. This milestone belongs to every rider who's been part of the journey over the last 15 years. Thank you for riding with us. Here's to the next million. Keep riding. 🚲 #BikeShareTO #CyclingTO

In Toronto, more people are killed and injured by vehicles than from violent crimes. Anyone who claims to be a champion of safety, but who isn't advocating for safer roads, is just fear mongering or dog whistling.

These 32 #BloodBikes commemorate the 32 people killed on Bloor, Yonge & University in 20-years before bike lanes were built. After bike lanes were installed only one tragic loss of life has occurred in 6-years since 2020. Bike lanes keep EVERYONE save, not only people cycling.

Doug Ford’s war on bike lanes isn’t about traffic—it’s part of a global right-wing backlash to vilify urban residents and defend fossil fuel interests. @DesmondCole reports from the frontlines of the showdown in Toronto.

The Toronto Police arrested Aly Van Wyck-Smart, a Paralympian with cerebral palsy who was protecting part of the bike lane from removal. On the bright side, the construction workers put the bollards back and said we'd won for the day.

Brad Bradford would call his council colleagues "bitches" and make his staffers cry. Very grateful for local journalism reporting by @royinori at this time.

(1/5) THREAD: For everybody panicking about this poll, let's look at the accuracy of the 2022 TO Centre poll from Forum Research, where they also have a tiny and unequal sample size that skews extremely old. Poll vs Real: Chris Moise: 27% vs 48% Nicki Ward 39% vs 18%
Toronto - "If a municipal by-election for Toronto City Council were held today in Toronto Centre, who are you most likely to vote for?" Chris Moise: 35% Daniel Tate: 19% Curran Stikuts: 6% Other: 40% Forum / June 23, 2026

Instead of grievance politics over transit priority measures already slated for removal, @Krissan4Scarb got up early for the BRT's inaugural ride to make sure it serves his constituents.

We can have this leadership in Toronto City Hall. Let’s pedestrianize more streets for more vibrant neighbourhoods that work for local businesses and improve the experience for residents.
Shocker: people love pedestrian streets and want it to return next year—including residents, visitors, businesses, & councillors. I wish Toronto had the same leadership + ambition from City Hall to make our cities more livable and vibrant. (1/2) cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c…

Two blocks in the Church-Wellesley neighbourhood have reopened to motorists after being closed for a nine-week pedestrianization pilot project. Now, residents, business owners and some elected officials say they would like to see it expanded next year. bit.ly/3UkuQIu

Love her or not, here is the record Mayor Olivia Chow has built heading into the upcoming elections: 1. Handed DVP & Gardiner to Ontario (saved Toronto $1.9B) 2. Deployed 100+ traffic agents, cutting intersection blocking by 96% 3. Upgraded Toronto’s credit rating to AA+ for the first time in 23 years 4. Froze TTC fares 3 years in a row & kept Scarborough Busway on track 5. Cut 911 call wait times from nearly a minute down to seconds 6. Passed strict local rules targeting bad-faith renovictions 7. Expanded year-round park washrooms & 7-day library service to all 100 branches 8. Reduced visible homeless encampments by 70% Debate the policies all you want, but these are the numbers on the board.

A plan to fill the gap in the Christie bike lane between Bloor and Dupont has been brought up since 2011. Was in the plan to be completed between 2019 and 2021, and then died on the vine. These types of gap closures should be highest priority while Bill 212 is in effect.

🚲 More places to ride. More places to dock. Over the past three months, we've expanded and added new stations across Toronto, creating 467 additional places to pick up and return bikes. Whether you're commuting, running errands, or exploring the city, it's now even easier to start and end your ride. 🔗 Stay up to date on network changes here: bikesharetoronto.com/network…

This summer, Toronto had days of the worst air quality in the world. I’m proposing a downtown Ultra Low Emissions Zone, paired with GO-TTC fare harmonization, so we can get a breath of fresh air.
