Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena on Friday (Oct. 16) issued a court order preventing Ven. Ulapane Sumangala Thera and 54 others from remaining within the premises of the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.
The order comes as a group of Buddhist monks continues a protest outside the Presidential Secretariat, demanding the release of Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera.
The protest began on Thursday evening, with several monks remaining at the location overnight.
The protesters are currently occupying the pavement on the opposite side of Galle Road, away from the Presidential Secretariat. (Newswire)

Galagodaatte Gnanasara was this Government's defining moment. "We are not going to interfere or overturn a judicial decision" should have been the line throughout. The Government failed by trying to appease. They absolutely should not have engaged.
