Thank you so much @PTenigma! For anyone at #OHBM2023, I'm happy to chat about our results further. I'll be presenting at the Tues/Wed poster sessions, feel free to stop by! Poster 1546 #OHBM
Elizabeth Haddad @USC_LoBeS reports a remarkable study showing higher microbleed incidence in Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) ancestry groups in the UK Biobank; reveals modifiable lifestyle factors and risk factors using advanced association detection algorithm #OHBM23

🎉 Welcoming Dr. @XenosMason to Keck Medicine of USC! Dr. Mason is a neurologist specializing in movement disorders and deep brain stimulation therapy. We are so excited to see his positive impact on our team.
How do you feel about "n of 1" studies? They can be illustrative and should be published more often if conducted rigorously, but drawing conclusions is tough. Like here: what about intra-individual variability in tractography... @DrAlfonsoFasano jnnp.bmj.com/content/early/2…
Thermostats...insulin pumps...and now @DBS? Many groups working on "closing the loop" for adaptive neuromodulation. But what's the input? Cool paper from Bronte-Stewart's group @StanfordMed. Will this be useful for #freezing in #parkinsons? brainstimjrnl.com/article/S1…
New data from Martin Reich and @volkmann_jens on how to improve #DBS treatment for #dystonia. Neuroimaging biomarkers, wearable sensors, and AI-based adaptive programming all coming down the pipeline! @dmrf brainstimjrnl.com/article/S1…

Congrats @njahanshad! We know you'll deliver a great keynote! 👏🧠
Excited to announce our keynote speaker, Prof. Neda Jahanshad! 🎉 She explores genetic/environmental factors impacting brain connections, mental illnesses, and neurodegenerative disorders using Bigdata and Machine Learning mlcnworkshop.github.io/keyno…

Genuinely curious: how long have your manuscripts sat in the cue before being sent out for review? My group's submission to @BioMedCentral Systematic Reviews has been on the editorial desk for >60 days. Huge transparency issue. #ethics #publishing
What area of the brain should we stimulate to treat #dystonia? Right now it's a "one-size fits all" approach, but the evidence suggests otherwise! Here's some brand-new evidence...@dmrf @MartaSanLucian1

I only wish more people were so inspired and empowers to speak out against medical injustice. Fantastic work, @JoshuaBudhu
My dad went to the ED recently and wasn't seen for 6 hours so he left to go to another hospital. I write about his experience in this @Newsweek op-ed and misaligned incentives focused on profits and margins rather than better health outcomes.

The ‘revised’ homunculus very much reminds me of the functional topography of the cerebellum…both with gradients and multiple representations @SchmahmannLab

Can we slow #parkinsons by stimulating brain circuits? @MalloryHacker, @andreashorn_, @DavidCharlesMD maybe we can. But folks, is this only for tremor? Your data at @ASSFNeurosurg 2022 showed that "early stim" slowed tremor, and your negative tract (CTT) treats non-PD tremor.

Congrats to Zach Gilbert and our co-authors on a tight and comprehensive review of waveform parameters in clinical DBS!

Wonderful news for patients and families about #donanemab. The needle is moving on treating Alzheimer disease. I hope these are just the first steps toward a slow and steady improvement in outcomes.

Change the shape of your DBS pulse for dystonia? @JWongggMD @DBSThinkTank showed biphasic DBS safe well-tolerated novel paradigm primary dystonia. Small study; could it be faster improvement of dystonia symptoms? Pilot double blind randomized crossover.

The issue at hand, @jonstoneneuro @FNDSociety, is that the differentiation is truly challenging! SVT not reliable, clinical/epidemiological features not consistent, and no biomarkers = challenging subjectivity for most clinicians! As I’ve written about…ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article…
‘Why FND is not Feigning or Malingering’ - our new @NatRevNeurol review and synthesis - with @M_Yogarajah and Mark Edwards nature.com/articles/s41582-0…. a thread… 1/
Trust in the patient and their experience is key to the diagnosis of FND, as @jonstoneneuro has written. This is at once very simple, and for some…difficult. Because, as one of my reviewers once asked - ‘whom do we trust?’. Maybe best to start with ‘everyone’ and go from there…
