@WorldVisionKE's resilience-building project in Kalobeyei, Turkana County, has won the iM Social Contribution Foundation Chairman’s Award at the 1st Korea Public Activity Impact Awards!
Implemented in partnership with KOICA, the project has:
✅ Reached 50,615 refugees and host community members through improved water access, agricultural training and pasture restoration.
✅ Reduced the average round-trip distance residents travel to fetch water during the dry season from 3.7 km to just 0.6 km
✅ Increased the share of households selling their produce from 25.1% to 80.7%.
Following the launch of our Athi-Kalawa (AKWASH) Water project in Makueni County, we are working with @GvnMutula and the county government to improve access to water and promote good hygiene practices in communities.
Listen in from the Governor on why this matters and what we’re doing together ⤵️

We officially commissioned the Athi-Kalawa Water Project (AKWASH) in Kalawa Ward, Makueni County, alongside the Governor of @county017, Hon. @GvnMutula.
The project is a joint investment of 450 million Kshs, featuring 360 million Kshs from @WorldVisionKE and the @CocaCola Foundation and 90 million Kshs from the County Government of Makueni.
The project will now bring treated water to 22,000 people, cutting average walking distances from 5 kilometres to under 1KM and supply 35 water kiosks, 12 shopping centres, 6 health facilities and 12 schools transforming health, education and local economies.
@WorldVisionKE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with @county017 to strengthen collaboration on sustainable development programmes that improve the well-being of children and communities.
The partnership will focus on health, agriculture, water and sanitation, livelihoods, environmental conservation, climate change, child protection and education. It will also support joint resource mobilisation, programme implementation, capacity building and community-led development initiatives.
The MOU was signed by H.E. @GvnMutula, Governor of Makueni County, and Dr. Gershon Mwakazi, @WorldVisionKE’s Interim National Director.

World Vision is deeply concerned following the Ministry of Health's confirmation of Kenya's first imported case of Ebola (Bundibugyo) virus disease. Preventing further transmission is now critical.
@WorldVisionKE is strengthening infection prevention measures and working with health authorities to protect children and communities.
Containing Ebola requires equipped health workers, accurate information to counter fear and stigma, and strong regional cooperation.
Children must remain at the centre of the response. World Vision stands ready to work with governments and partners to prevent further transmission and keep communities safe.
