Why I’ve been asking the Council to stop glyphosate spraying. I’m very grateful they’ve agreed for me to opt out but more needs to be done. Contractors talk about ‘slip and trip hazards & obscuring road signs and interfering with drainage’. This morning it took us just 20 minutes to pull up so-called weeds not even causing any of the above hazards. A company on a contract worth hundreds of thousands don’t care about environment. As for blocked drains, this is due to heavy leaf fall, not weeds. Drains should be regularly cleared and are not. Instead, Council contractors go out onto our streets with toxic spray *3 times a year* to clear ‘weeds’! Time to rethink.
