Excited to share our new preprint on co-transcriptional splicing! U1 snRNP is recruited to RNA polymerase II through multiple interaction sites, with elongation factor SPT6 binding directly to the U1 snRNP protein.

Please spread the word: we are looking for PhD students! Interested in supramolecular complexes in gene expression? Go to
imcbio-phdprogram.unistra.fr
scroll down to “Integrated Structural Biology (LabEx INRT)” for project descriptions and start application process by January 19th!
Really pleased to see this study of gene expression coupling performed so comprehensively! When we determined structures of ribosome-polymerase complexes we knew were seeing the tip of the iceberg- static moments of two machines that should be seen moving. Congratulations!
First paper of our lab today @Nature by Nussi!
We provide a real-time movie on how #transcription and #translation cooperate using multi-color #single-molecule FM: we find long-range #ribosome-#polymerase communication mediated by #RNA looping! @embl

Beautiful cryo-EM reconstructions from our lab neighbour. Delighted to see it out 👇🔬❄️🧬
Using cryoEM we understood the structural basis of chiral DNA wrap by bacterial gyrase (and also produced the most complete/highest resolution E coli gyrase model to date).

In @ScienceMagazine - great collaborative work w/ @AlbertW_Lab & @RappsilberLab showing that bacterial RNA polymerase can thread nascent mRNA into the pioneering ribosome from two sides for higher translation initiation efficiency - target for antibiotics?

Joe Ecker @JoeEcker, Joseph Swift @_joseph_swift, and team have revealed the genetic details of 30-million-year-old question: How did some plants evolve from less-efficient C3 photosynthesis to C4 photosynthesis? Their findings pave the way for the creation of more robust, efficient plants that withstand the effects of climate change and can feed a growing global population 🌱 @Nature
