If councillors are going to publicise how they voted, shouldn't the public get the full story? We take a closer look at Tauranga City Council's 6 to 4 congestion charging vote and ask why transparency shouldn't work both ways.
Join us Sunday, November 22nd, at 2pm for our protest. It's time for transparency and accountability!

After more than two months of raising questions about Tauranga City Council, their first direct response to me was to correct my pronunciation of Tauranga. Seriously? I was hoping for answers about accountability, transparency and governance. Apparently, the pronunciation lesson was more important. Day 30. The questions aren't going away. #WaynesWorldview #tauranga #taurangacitycouncil #council #accountability #rate #localgovernment #rates #pronunciation #transparency #publicaccountability #NZ #day30 #NewZealand @TgaCouncil @TheRedbaiter @MurfittTauranga @LobbyForGoodNZ @NumberEightNews @shubzlive @NZFreeSpeech @2ETEKA @Dame__Jane @TheZeitgeistNZ @the_salty_one_

Day 27. Mayor Drysdale talks prudent financial management. I’m asking for transparency, accountability, and some straight answers. Tauranga City Council has approved another $3.5 million for the Mount, but where’s the proof ratepayers are getting value for money? #WaynesWorldview #tauranga #mountmaunganui #rate #council #accountability #taxpayermoney #transparency #rates @TgaCouncil @TaurangaNews @LobbyForGoodNZ @nzfirst @nzherald @MurfittTauranga @TrueNZNews @Dbakernz @TheZeitgeistNZ @BrianTamakiNZ @DuncanGarnerPodcast @NumberEightNews @TheRedbaiter @Dame__Jane @2ETEKA
Day 26 of demanding accountability at Tauranga City Council. We elect our representatives to serve us, not the other way around. So why do ratepayers have to fight so hard to get answers? Day 25. Are ratepayers being held to ransom? Tauranga City Council has approved another $3.5 million for the Mount recovery, on top of the $6.68 million already spent. We can support making the Mount safe while still demanding transparency and accountability. It’s our money. Make it make sense!

Day 24. Tauranga City Council wants to spend $100,000 recruiting a new CEO, while ratepayers are left asking the obvious question. Where are the spending cuts? Enough corporate buzzwords. We need financial accountability, less waste and measurable results. Our money. Our city. Did Tauranga City Council misrepresent the RSA’s position on the War Memorial Pools? An internal email raises serious questions, while a petition signed by more than 2,500 people deserves answers. It’s time for transparency, honesty and accountability. Tauranga deserves better.

81% of public consultation respondents opposed congestion charging, yet four councillors voted in favour of funding further investigation. Who were they? & Who are they representing? Day 15 calling for the Mayor and council executives to resign. Ratepayers deserve transparency, value for money, and answers. When a requested document is fully redacted, questions need to be asked.
