✅ images obtained using the curvilinear transducer are associated with higher interpretation accuracy than the phased array ✅ this is especially true for novices interpreting pleural-based pathologies Will this change you teach your junior trainees?

Amazing how often we see this. Great clip @katiewiskar!
PSA: this is why we ALWAS scan with colour doppler (or CPD, in this case) to look for vessels prior to thoracentesis. Indicator is toward patient's head, so the vessel is running on the superior aspect of the rib --> right where you'd normally poke #POCUS #MedEd

#POCUS #anatomy quiz of the day: Can you identify the structures A - H in this transverse ultrasound scan of the upper abdomen? This is important for #IMPOCUS users evaluating vascular pathology as well as #VExUS learners exploring various windows. #MedEd

I cannot over emphasize how useful POCUS is in remote settings. Here in Iqaluit - where TTEs are available just a few times a year - being able to answer the question “is this patient’s LVEF normal” is an invaluable skill. All internists need to learn. @IM_POCUS @katiewiskar
