(I know, I know. What can I say, I'm a true internist!)
HypoNa is often feared, maligned, and misunderstood - but I promise it doesn't have to be scary!

Thank you Abhi! Such an honour and a pleasure to be around so many hemodynamic geniuses 👩🏼⚕️
This is such a special conference! #HR26
Great talk by @katiewiskar on the myths and misconceptions around volume status at #HR26.
In fact, even #POCUS-assisted “volume status” assessment is a bit of a myth - it’s really hemodynamic assessment, as she emphasized.
Reviving this account (it’s been a minute!) because I am TOO excited to finally be heading to #HR26 in person! 🎉🥳👏
Can’t wait to finally meet so many folks that I’ve collaborated with across a screen for years 😊🤓

One of the most requested teaching topics I get from trainees on our medical wards is cirrhosis and liver disease 🩸
Which is understandable - this is an intimidating topic for many learners, as there are so many layers of complexity to consider 🤔

Appreciate you lending your #POCUS (physical exam) superpowers to us nephrologists.
The aspiration is that we grow to stand beside you — not depend on you, in near future 😉
Hoping this #KidneyWk precourse sparked that momentum. 🔦
Highly, highly recommended. This was a great listen - loved heard the dissection of the trial and the new questions generated by this discussion.

These are what bring folks into hospital 🏩; and there are a few nuances here to unpack 🧵
Quick shout-out to one of the Honorable Mentions: Hepatic Hydrothorax.
These can be VERY difficult to deal with. The golden rule is NOT to instrument the chest if you can avoid it; and if you do need to drain the fluid, never insert an indwelling drain. This patients are at VERY high risk of complications with indwelling drains in particular. Serial in-and-out thoracenteses only ‼️
If possible: management is with sodium restriction, diuretics, and paracentesis. Some patients may benefit from pleurodesis or TIPS.
I'd love to hear #cirrhosis pearls from others! ☺️
