I have a great job. I get to meet astronauts and witness rocket launches. Today, @SpaceNorah was visiting as part of the kickoff for the @WIPLive session this summer. When she launches aboard a @virgingalactic flight, she will be the first Irish citizen to reach space. #AdAstra

An honor to meet @SpaceNorah— set to become Ireland’s first astronaut. Her journey from Ballina to the stars exemplifies the very best of Irish innovation and ambition. Proud to welcome her to Washington as @WIPLive honoree. 🚀🇮🇪💫

Yesterday, I had the honor of addressing the 2025 intern class of @WIPLive. Having provided one of their first internships 30 years ago, I have a deep appreciation for what the program stands for and its role not only in supporting opportunities for young people, but also promoting peace on the island of Ireland. Congratulations to Carol Wheeler, Founder of WIP, on her Honorary Doctorate from Ulster University, a well-deserved honor for someone whose work has left a lasting legacy not just in the lives of the students who have participated in WIP, but in the continued strengthening of U.S.-Ireland relations.

This morning, I had the opportunity to join my friends in the Washington Ireland Program as we commemorate a century of diplomatic relations between Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the United States. As a proud Hibernian, member of the Friends of Ireland Caucus, champion for the International Fund for Ireland, and advocate for the preservation of peace in Northern Ireland I know that the bonds between our nations—rooted in shared history, values, and a steadfast commitment to democracy—are more vital than ever. For three decades, @WIPLive has cultivated excellence, uniting emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds and equipping them with the skills to shape the future. My office has been proud to support this extraordinary initiative, which continues to bring some of the most promising minds across the Atlantic to engage, collaborate, and lead. Thanks to the dedication of those who champion this program, I am confident it will continue to strengthen transatlantic ties, foster enduring partnerships, and empower the next generation of leaders who will carry forward our shared legacy.
