Interesting article by Terry Buettner, BS, CCA from Ward Labs. Sadly, he recently passed away. It looks like fertilizer prices aren't going down any time soon. How have you been building your soil to weather the storm?

ARC/PLC Payments Help Offset Diesel Costs, But Relief Varies by State dtnpf.com/agriculture/web/ag…
Our diesel problem is not from Ukraine’s just attacks on Russian refineries. It is due to Iran’s attacks in oil and refineries in the Persian Gulf. And Putin supplied the intel to help them with targeting.

Trump is trying to create the impression that high diesel prices are Ukraine’s fault and not his stupid attack on Iran.
Russia’s business carrot for Trump brings first effect.
Here is a quick explainer of why Trump-Putin diesel deal is a propaganda win for Russia and no real result for the US.
Trump agreed with Putin on deliveries of 0.8 mln tons of Russian diesel to the US (under a sanctions exemption) by November, and another 4 mln tons by April 7, 2027. Trump wants to lower high US diesel prices before the midterm elections.
Paradoxically, Russia itself faces a diesel problem: Ukraine’s regular attacks on its refineries have cut its output by about a third.
In July–September alone, Russia imported around 0.6 mln tons of diesel from Belarus and at least 176k tons from South Korea.
Putin’s decision to export diesel to the US:
👉is an investment in his relations with Trump
👉will pressure Ukraine not to hit Russian refineries
👉is a breach in the sanctions regime on Russia.
The US consumes around 15 mln tons monthly, so 300k tons is only 2% and 500k tons 3.3% of US consumption.
I’m always the truck driver during harvest. This week it has been a bit boring as the tractor for the 13” auger is down meaning we are using the 8” auger with a gas engine instead. 45 min vs less than 20 min unload time.
This is great to see!
> 2 brothers inherited 568 acres from Dad
> Neither farms. Dad retired 8 years ago
> No strings attached to the inheritance
> But both brothers agreed: "Dad would've wanted to help out a young farmer"
> So they're selling the land to the 28-year-old son of the farmer currently farming it.
Here are the terms:
→ 75% of appraised value
→ $0 down payment
→ Minimum interest rate allowed by IRS
→ 30-year amortization
→ 15 annual payments
→ Balloon payment at year 15
> They could've sold to the highest bidder
> Instead, they're giving a young farmer a chance
> Not every landowner is interested in squeezing the last dollar out of every acre.
Getting the winter camelina planted tonight. Started last week but needed to fix a fence. Then it rained. Hopefully the warm weather next week gives it a nice germination boost!

This is truly a great man. He has invested more in Ukraine than 185 countries combined.
Meet Howard Buffett, Warren Buffett’s middle son. He is 71 years old. He dropped out of college three times. He drinks Dr Pepper and looks for a McDonald’s wherever he travels.
Since the beginning of the war, his foundation has become the largest private donor to Ukraine: $1.4 billion.
Over four years, he has personally visited Ukraine 27 times.
In April 2022, he saw burned-out agricultural machinery and called the president of John Deere:
“How many combines are available in Europe?”
“Fifteen. All of them were supposed to go to Russia.”
“I’ll take them all.”
Then came all the available New Holland equipment in Europe. Altogether, more than 100 tractors and combines were provided to Ukrainian farmers.
He even tested demining equipment himself - on his own farm in Illinois, detonating explosives beneath rollers. When a Ukrainian deputy minister expressed doubts, Buffett told him:
“Stop counting my tractors. If necessary, I’ll blow up a thousand of them.”
Andriy Stavnitser initially asked him for $1 million for Superhumans. Buffett asked how much was needed to build the entire center.
“$14 million.”
“Okay. And what do you expect in return?”
“Nothing. Build it.”
Today, his support for Superhumans has reached $77 million, and the center has treated more than 1,700 patients.
But his largest area of spending is neither agricultural machinery nor prosthetics.
It is food: 642 million meals.
And that is only part of it:
* 344,000 windows replaced after Russian attacks;
* 9 bridges, 4 power plants, 2,500 generators, and 18 DNA laboratories;
* Much of Bucha rebuilt with his funding.
“I already have more friends in Ukraine than I do at home,” he says.
He celebrates birthdays in Ukraine, comes for Christmas, and even has a Ukrainian godson.
Friends, this is truly a great man - someone who understands that he cannot take all his money with him when he leaves this world.
I simply want to thank him and wish him well.
Whatever else one may say, this is real help from a person who had no personal obligation to Ukraine.
He simply chose to help.

We should map out geospatially were the most logical place is to place them with population density, infrastructure availability, weather, community needs, growth sustainability, and more. I’d think most of any maps out there now are built without an understanding at all of ND culture and the different nuances. Could be worth something to own the access to such a map with proper metrics.
