Here’s my story (with reporting from @CBCLarsen) on another year with no school for Olympic Village. Four years isn’t a “fact track” for anything — unless you’re a government making excuses.

For more information about why the words we use to describe motor vehicle crashes are important, I thoroughly recommend the books Right of Way by @schmangee and There Are No Accidents by @JessieSingerNYC – at Vancouver, British Columbia

Disappointed to see media using the word “accident” & reporting the driver “stayed at the scene” after inflicting life changing injuries on a 15 yo Lord Byng Secondary student yesterday, as if that isn’t a minimum requirement. @VisionZeroYVR media guide: visionzerovancouver.ca/media… – at Vancouver, British Columbia

The bus strike is happening today. Please refer to the list below. Many families, staff, and even classrooms on field trips will be impacted by this strike. It’s a double whammy when you consider the snowstorm last week. @VSB39 @VanDPAC @CBCEarlyEdition translink.ca/alerts?_gl=1*i8…..

Hey #bcpoli #cdnpoli #bced parents, the “parents’ rights” / anti trans protests this week may have you confused about what is happening in schools. Feel free to ask in the comments if you want to know more about SOGI 123. Hate will be deleted and blocked. Thread ⬇️

Everyone in BC’s school system needs to read the facts about Covid, kids & schools, published on BC’s ImmunizeBC website. Parents, school staff, admin, school districts, unions & politicians. Even @CDCofBC could use a refresher, based on recent, inadequate K-12 guidelines. See⬇️
The real question for me is why the Ministry of Education in BC & the @CDCofBC aren’t educating parents, teachers & students about the evidence based facts on the ImmunizeBC website? The @bctf should also be educating teachers, too. #bced #bcpoli

Some myths about SOGI 123 busted: SOGI does not encourage kids to transition, nor does it erase biological sex. www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/er…

A great overview with some examples: Some students might be raised by grandparents or a single dad or two moms. SOGI-inclusive teaching would reflect this reality by showing families come in all shapes and sizes. sogieducation.org/parents

We understand it can get confusing with all the disinformation out there, but if you genuinely want to understand SOGI 123, here are some good places to start (spoiler alert: it's much less sensational than the fear-mongering narratives designed to riled you up) 👇

Are you angry that teachers are trying to influence children to 'change' genders? Great news -- that isn't happening. "Nothing could be further from the truth," BCTF prez @clintjohnston7 says. More on what inclusive education actually means: cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c… #bced #bcpoli

We're extremely disappointed to hear that Roberts Elementary has lost 4 student support workers (SSAs). We hear that SSAs have been cut right across the VSB. Budget cuts have once again resulted in less support for the kids that need it the most. More education funding is needed.
