PAKPAC is deeply troubled to learn about a plot targeting a Hindu Temple in Illinois where Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (@CongressmanRaja) and his family attend. We thank law enforcement personnel and all those who helped prevent this tragedy. Places of worship should be protected. No form of hatred is acceptable, we are all Americans. Freedom of worship is an American value. Hatred based on religion and national origin is against our American values. We must confront hatred and work to build a nation that is tolerant of our values, the foundations that America was founded on. We stand with our Hindu American community.

When will we decide that no Pakistani should go hungry? Pakistan has immense talent, intelligence, agricultural resources, and a private sector capable of driving meaningful change. Yet millions of people continue to struggle to put food on the table, and children suffer from malnutrition. The World Food Programme reports that approximately 40% of Pakistani children under five are stunted. Why are we not bringing our collective intelligence, resources, and wealth together to solve this crisis? Why can’t Pakistan’s elites, business leaders, philanthropists, and government make ending hunger a national priority? Hunger is not inevitable. It requires leadership, organization, compassion, and the political will to act. No child should go to bed hungry. No family should have to choose between food and survival. No Pakistani should be left behind.
Number 1. Pakistan recorded the highest score in South Asia on the 2026 Global Hunger Index released on Wednesday, reflecting a worsening food security crisis driven by economic instability, climate shocks and global conflicts. dawn.com/news/2037222

PAKPAC is deeply alarmed by the imposition of emergency rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and reports of the abduction of elected provincial leaders including @KPChiefMinister. People from across Pakistan are mobilizing to march in defense of their fundamental rights and democratic freedoms. No emergency can silence the people or erase their mandate. PAKPAC calls for the immediate release of detained political leaders, respect for the elected @GovernmentKP, and protection of the people’s right to peaceful protest. Human rights must prevail. On October 11, Pakistan's government used emergency powers to end PTI's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which critics read as the removal of the military establishment's main political rival, in a country with a weak democratic record and persistent rights-group concerns over press freedom and political repression. The move came as the party's campaign for Imran Khan's release gathered force. Officially it was a response to terrorism and a breakdown of law and order, but critics read it as the removal of the only institutional base of the establishment's main political rival, achieved by constitutional means rather than force. Thank you @RepRashida a friend of @PAKPAC and us, the Michigan Pakistani community.
Free Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. They’ve been held in inhumane conditions without medical attention, and both have reported significant eye damage. No one should be treated this way. I stand with the thousands of protestors marching in Pakistan demanding their release. The people of Pakistan deserve free and fair elections.

Everyone should stand up with the people of Pakistan,as they protest in peace to fight for their rights to self govern, and have their voices heard, have human rights restored and demand free/ fair elections. No one should stand in their way to have their voices heard. Our friends in @HouseForeign @HouseForeignGOP and in Congress please raise your voices for free/ fair elections in Pakistan. Let’s pass #HR5271.
Pakistan is at a defining moment. Hundreds of thousands are already marching, with people calling for a peaceful, constitutional movement and hundreds of thousands joining from across Pakistan. The @GovtofPakistan must protect peaceful protesters—not confront, arrest, intimidate or silence them. Blocking roads, mass arrests and the use of force cannot be the answer to political disagreement. The people’s voice must be heard. Human rights, constitutional freedoms, rule of law and democracy must prevail. Pakistan’s crisis will not be solved through repression. It can only be resolved through free, fair, transparent elections in which the people’s mandate is respected. Let the people speak. Let democracy decide. @POTUS @RealDonaldTrump @VP @JDVance @SecRubio @SusieWiles47 @StateDept @RichardGrenell @HouseForeignGOP @HouseForeign @SenateForeign @SenatorRisch @SFRCdems @SenatorShaheen @State_SCA @StateDRL @RepBrianMast @RepGregoryMeeks @RepHuizenga @RepGallagherCA1 @RepMcCaul @RepMcCormick @Jim_Jordan @RepCarlos @RepPatFallon @USAmbUN @StateDept @USEmbIslamabad @UnderSecPD @TLHumanRights @Amnesty @AmnestyUSA @RepBaumgartner @FreedomCaucus @RepAndyHarrisMD @JudiciaryGOP @statedeptspox @FoxNews @CNN @ABC @CBSNews @NBCNews

The events unfolding in Pakistan today are deeply disturbing. The reported abductions of the entire family of imprisoned former Pakistan Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI and raids on their homes are unacceptable. Peaceful protest must not be met with intimidation, abductions, or force. The people’s voice cannot be silenced. We call on the Pakistan government (@GovtofPakistan) and military leadership (@OfficialDGISPR) to release ALL family members immediately and protect peaceful protesters, release political prisoners, and uphold fundamental freedoms. As world leaders gather at #UNGA this week, we urge them to confront these reported abuses directly and demand that Pakistan’s government and military respect human rights, democratic integrity, peaceful assembly, and the rule of law. Silence cannot be the response. The people of Pakistan must be allowed to speak without fear, intimidation, or violence. @POTUS @RealDonaldTrump @VP @JDVance @SecRubio @SusieWiles47 @StateDept @RichardGrenell @HouseForeignGOP @HouseForeign @SenateForeign @SenatorRisch @SFRCdems @State_SCA @StateDRL @RepBrianMast @RepGregoryMeeks @RepHuizenga @RepMcCaul @RepMcCormick @RepCarlos @RepPatFallon @BoardofPeace @USAmbUN @StateDept @USEmbIslamabad @UnderSecPD @Amnesty @AmnestyUSA @TLHumanRights @Jim_Jordan @RepBaumgartner @FreedomCaucus @RepAndyHarrisMD @JudiciaryGOP @StateDept @USEmbIslamabad @UnderSecPD @Amnesty @AmnestyUSA @TLHumanRights @vonderleyen @UN @BorisJohnson @kajakallas @EmmanuelMacron @HRW

Upon instructions from friends and family, I have submitted an urgent complaint to the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (@UN_SPExperts) copied to the Special Rapporteurs on Freedom of Expression, Belief, and Association concerning the detention of @ImranKhanPTI 's sister Mrs Aleema Khan (@Aleema_KhanPK) On 20 September 2026, Mrs Khan was seized from near her house in Lahore and the authorities, after first refusing to acknowledge that they had detained her, have now stated that she is being held under the draconian Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, which allows the authorities to order the detention of individuals without court approval. It is clear that Mrs Aleema Khan has been targeted because of her support for her brother (@ImranKhanPTI) and because of her advocacy for democracy in Pakistan and we have submitted that her detention is unlawful and arbitrary, as it is without a proper legal basis and has taken place because of her exercise of her rights to freedom of expression, belief, and assembly, and in an attempt to dampen support for the legitimate public protest in support of Imran Khan planned for 27 September 2026. After speaking up for Aleema following her seizure, her two sisters have now also been detained. We ask you all to raise the case of Aleema Khan and her sisters wherever you are and for the international community to act for democracy in Pakistan. @KhanShershah @MrsSFaisall @PTIofficial @PTIOfficialISB @PTIPunjabPK @SkyYaldaHakim #ArbitraryDetention #Persecution #InternationalLaw #FreeAleemaKhan

I was grateful for the opportunity to speak on @CNNi’s @Amanpour about the shocking mistreatment of my client former #Pakistan PM @ImranKhanPTI by the #Pakistan regime and its brazen violation of the #SupremeCourt’s order for an independent medical panel to evaluate his health at a private hospital. Thank you for standing up against hate! Hate has no place in our society. @BillCassidy.
On behalf of Pakistani Americans, and Muslims in America, we thank Senator @BillCassidy for his powerful and principled condemnation of Islamophobia. His recent comments on @FaceTheNation were a reminder that Muslim Americans are doctors, professors, professionals, neighbors, and valued members of our communities, including those serving in underserved areas of Louisiana. These Muslim doctors and professionals are not only contributing to their communities, they are also serving their country, the United States of America, with dedication and excellence. Thank you, @SenBillCassidy, for standing up for your Muslim constituents and making clear that Islamophobia has no place in America. 🇺🇸

Once again, Pakistan is witnessing serious human rights violations and the continued erosion of democracy and basic freedoms. PAKPAC strongly condemns the ongoing violence against civilians in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and the suppression of peaceful political expression. The reported use of lethal force against demonstrators, mass arrests, communications blackouts, and restrictions on freedom of expression and peaceful assembly are deeply alarming. Democracies are strengthened by protecting the rights of their citizens—not by silencing them. We call on the @GovtOfPakistan and the Pakistan Military (@OfficialDGISPR) to exercise maximum restraint, protect the constitutional rights of peaceful assembly and free expression, uphold democratic principles, and ensure the safety of all civilians. We also call on the U.S. Administration, Congress, and the international community to support an independent, impartial, and transparent investigation into all reported killings and allegations of excessive use of force, while urging the restoration of unrestricted internet access, media freedom, and humanitarian access. The people of Pakistan-administered Kashmir deserve justice, accountability, and the protection of their fundamental rights. The international community must not remain silent in the face of continued democratic backsliding and alleged human rights abuses. @UN @UNHumanRights @HRW @Amnesty @AmnestySAsia @UN_HRC @AntonioGuterres @IHRF_English CC: @POTUS @VP @SecRubio @StateDept @HouseForeign @HouseForeignGOP @SenateForeign @SFRCdems @StateDRL @TLHumanRights @State_SCA #PAKPAC #HumanRights #Democracy #Kashmir #RuleOfLaw #SouthAsia

The conversations following the 2026 @APPNA Convention in Orlando have highlighted concerns shared by many in the Pakistani American community. The controversy surrounding the defacement of a Pakistani national icon has understandably generated strong emotions and sparked important discussions. But our responsibility cannot end with comments on X, WhatsApp, or Facebook. As Pakistani Americans, we have the privilege of living in a democracy where our voices matter. We also have a responsibility to advocate for those whose voices have been silenced and whose fundamental rights and civil liberties continue to be deliberately disregarded. While in Orlando, @PAKPAC had the opportunity to host Florida @RepMaxwellFrost to discuss the importance of protecting human rights, restoring democratic institutions, safeguarding civil liberties, and supporting policies that benefit the people of Pakistan. For these reasons, Congressman @MaxwellFrostFL is a co-sponsor of HR 5271, (94 bipartisan co-sponsors). Call to Action: Call your Congressmember and urge them to co-sponsor HR 5271, Pakistan Freedom and Accountability Act. Real change comes through sustained civic engagement, relationship building, and advocacy. Not simply through outrage. If recent events have motivated you, we invite you to channel that energy into meaningful action. @PAKPAC is committed to advancing: • Human Rights • Civil liberties • Democratic values • Constructive engagement between the Pakistani American community and U.S. policymakers JOIN US!
