ah yes, i def feel comfortable with AI explaining the intricacies of geopolitical historical developments to my kid when AI repeatedly, publicly fails to count to 100. @nyuniversity shame on you for refusing to bargain with unionized workers over AI while cooking up this slop

Our Local's statement on today's historic vote to divest UAW funds from Israeli bonds. It took thousands of workers organizing around @uaw4democracy 's proposed language for years leading up to - and during - the 39th UAW Constitutional Convention. docs.google.com/document/u/2…

Bargaining and organizing go hand in hand. The more we win at the bargaining table, the more workers want to join the UAW.

BREAKING: United Auto Workers today passed a resolution at its convention, 321-287, to divest from Israeli bonds. With nearly 400,000 members, UAW becomes the largest US union to officially divest from Israel. The vote received support from a range of sectors, including a large number of Michigan auto delegates, in addition to legal services and higher education. The original call for divestment came from a wildcat strike of 2,000 mainly Arab American workers at Chrysler’s Dodge Main in 1973. Amid the genocide in Gaza, pro-Palestinian labor groups and UAW locals renewed and intensified their campaign. Speakers motivated for the resolution by citing the union’s legacy of divesting from South African apartheid in 1978.

The New School has laid off 68 staffers and 19 full-time faculty—more than half of them tenured—as it confronts a $60 million budget deficit driven in part by Trump administration restrictions on international students, who made up 36% of its student body in December 2025. artforum.com/news/new-york-n…

“These forced separations are a profound betrayal of the institution’s founding legacy as a sanctuary for critical social thought for scholars fleeing fascism,. Today, President Towers and Provost Kessler are actively dismantling this historic intellectual community.”

just woke up to learn that New School has fired a lot of professors including the prominent economist Sanjay Reddy. .
In the last 48 hours, The New School has fired almost two dozen of our colleagues — full-time faculty and staff — in humanities and social sciences, many of them tenured faculty of color, and multiple staff members, including in social justice.
