🔬 New work publication in Molecular Psychiatry!
In >2,000 BioFINDER participants, we show that CSF p-tau205 tracks Alzheimer’s disease progression and could contribute to biological staging, emerging later than Aβ42/40 and p-tau217 and closer to neocortical tau pathology.

#Memory, orientation and executive function are specifically protected from aging-related decline, in #OlderAdults (including 80-90+ year-olds), according to @DrCynthiaFelix in the new study published in #AlzResearch doi.org/10.1002/alz.71689.
Even before MCI, transportation difficulties can indicate greater AD pathology concurrently and precede greater rates of neurodegeneration. Check it out at Alzheimer’s Imaging Consortium #aaic26

⏱️ What is the “door-to-needle” time for amyloid-targeting treatments? 🧠
Neurologists know the mantra that "time is brain," and that amyloid-targeting treatments are more effective the earlier they are started.
A new paper led by Anna Hofmann from the Washington University Memory Diagnostic Center examined this in a real-world memory clinic setting. Among 209 patients who had a single AD biomarker test (PET, CSF, or blood), the median time to starting treatment was 4.7 months. However, the 12 patients who underwent multiple biomarker tests took significantly longer: a median of 8.1 months (p = 0.002). alz-journals.onlinelibrary.w…
Clinicians MUST have high confidence that patients have amyloid pathology before initiating amyloid-targeting treatments. However, performing multiple biomarker tests may delay treatment initiation. Therefore, we should consider whether multiple tests are necessary to confirm amyloid pathology. Alternatively, the biomarker testing protocol could be streamlined to enable more rapid testing.
Multiple tests are certainly appropriate when diagnostic certainty is lower — for example, in atypical AD syndromes, younger patients, intermediate biomarker values, or when there is uncertainty about test performance. However, clear-cut positive biomarker results in an older patient with a typical AD syndrome are associated with an extremely high probability of amyloid pathology, and additional testing may not be indicated in these cases. nature.com/articles/s43587-0…

NIH @AllofUsResearch has just released a massive multi-omics dataset, including:
• 535K WGS (120K+ added; now larger than UKB)
• ~10K proteomics + RNAseq + long-read
• ML-curated clinical notes
• 68K with Fitbit data
Kudos to this great initiative and to the participants for advancing science

Lila Sciences may raise about $2 billion at an $8.5 billion valuation.
That number looks incredible if you treat Lila as a normal AI biotech. It makes a little more sense (maybe!) if you treat it as a bet on a new R&D operating system.
Lila’s pitch is AI Science Factories: AI systems connected to automated labs that generate hypotheses, design experiments, run them, learn from the results, and repeat. In other words: model, robot lab, experiment, data, repeat. The whole shebang.
Or “scientific superintelligence” and “operating system for science," as Lila calls it. (3/7)
