NEW Vaughan man sentenced to 6 years for firearms charges. Harold Simon’s gun caused the death of Makayla Roxburgh-Carpino but Simon was acquitted of murder. The judge said “this verdict is in many ways very difficult to reconcile with the evidence”. globalnews.ca/news/12119162/…

Of all the things people could get at Chow for, the dancing is the stupidest shit ever
Picking on Mayor Chow dancing cultural festivals is stupid. For the people who have worked so hard to execute these events, having the Mayor attend & even participate (have fun doing it!!??) validates their event & elicits pride. If you don't know this, you're just not trying.

If someone described a shotgun as being a 1940s, SVT40-styled, tilting bolt delayed-blowback contraption, you probably wouldn't expect much performance from it. But the darn thing is actually kinda slick.

Here is a deep dive into the recently made public court record for Elias Mouawad, the latest #TorontoPolice officer to plead guilty as part of the Project South investigation. Summary... Toronto Police Constable Elias Mouawad was given a conditional discharge by Superior Court Justice Catherine Rhinelander on October 20th, 2026, for using an unlawful CPIC search on behalf of Daljit Sandhu and Brian Da Costa of the Ryan Wedding criminal network. At sentencing, the Crown sought a four-month conditional sentence (to be served in the community) followed by twelve months of probation. Counsel for Elias Mouawad sought a conditional discharge. Daljit Sandhu, who requested that Mr. Mouawad do the unauthorized CPIC check, was paid $114,813.19 in 2025 as an intermediate Technical Analyst for the Toronto Police Service and is one of the 27 people arrested in the Project South investigation. Mr. Sandhu also got Mr. Mouawad hired with the Toronto Police by acting as his reference. In his request to Mr. Douwad, Mr. Singh also mentioned that he knew other police officers who did similar favours for him. Briand Da Costa is facing 16 criminal charges in relation to the Project South investigation. He is accused of obtaining the confidential information which led to the murder attempt of senior correctional officer Milosevic of the Toronto South Detention Centre. The male who was looked up in the CPIC check by Mr. Douwad is known to the #RCMP as someone involved in the import/export of controlled substances via Pearson International Airport. The Sentencing... Justice Rhinelander gave Elias Mouawad a conditional discharge. As well as... - 1 year probation with 100 hours of community service, and Elias is required to participate in any counselling programs as directed by his probation officer. It appears the guilty plea submitted by Elias Mouawad was done to avoid further investigation and publicity into his criminal misconduct. A fact that Justice Rhinelander refused to acknowledge in her sentencing. To quote Superior Justice Catherine Rhinelander... "A just sentence meets the goals of deterrence, denunciation, retribution, rehabilitation, and protection of society." In no way does this sentence meet that criteria; it sends a message to everyone involved in organized crime that their crimes won't be punished. A conditional discharge doesn't even appear permanently on your criminal record; it's deleted after three years of a conviction. To quote Justice Rhinelander again... "A discharge may only be granted if it is in the best interests of the accused and not contrary to the public interest. Conditional discharges should be used sparingly and in exceptional circumstances" This discharge is not in the public's best interest. This case needs to be an example that collusion with organized crime by law enforcement will not be tolerated; it's far more than just an unauthorized CPIC check. This fact wasn't even considered by Justice Rhinelander in her sentencing. Here is the link to the court file for your reference canlii.org/en/on/onsc/doc/20…

The gun used by a 16-year-old who shot and killed three children and a teacher at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon last week was a birthday gift from the shooter's mom, sources told CBS News. The Maverick 88 pump-action 12-gauge shotgun was purchased legally in August 2026 by Shauntai Nickerson, the mother of Griffin J. John II, and given to him for recreational use, the sources said. Police said Monday there were a total of nine people — four adults and five children — in the classroom at the time. Three children and one teacher were killed. Another child and teacher were wounded. cbsn.ws/4zFsaEF

Update: he didn't blow the lock out with the shotgun. Seems like he found a side door that was either mostly glass or had windows positioned in a way that allowed him to reach in and push it open from inside.
Wow. A lot to digest here. Worth highlighting the lock situation. Quite unfortunate that he had a shotgun and managed to blow out locks without breaching rounds while avoiding injury to himself. Very unlikely to have gotten in with a different gun...yes, including an AR.
