Treasury revamped its results .pdf layout today; I'm not sure I like the new look. Also changed the link on the TreasuryDirect site, which means an extra click for me.
This week's auction of a new 5-year TIPS (CUSIP 91282CRR4) may be the ultimate conservative investment. The real yield will be near a two-decade high. My analysis: tipswatch.com/2026/10/18/thi…

To some extent, but not like recent years, from 2016 on. Trump/Covid/Biden/Trump. Getting massively larger.
I've posted my analysis of the September inflation report, which set the I Bond's variable rate at 4.08% and Social Security COLA at 3.6%. tipswatch.com/2026/10/14/sep…
US CPI came in a bit higher than expectations for September: 0.6% for the month and 3.7% annual (versus 3.4% for August). Core was 0.3% for the month and 2.6% for the year (versus 2.4% for August).
The Sept inflation report is the most important of the year -- setting the I Bond's new variable rate and also determining the Social Security COLA for 2027. The consensus sees monthly all-items up 0.6% and annual jumping from 3.4% to 3.6%. But not so bad for core. We'll see.
Financial expert: "TIPS are for losers." Really? Even with real yields at nearly two-decade highs? It all depends on your commitment to hold to maturity. My analysis: tipswatch.com/2026/10/11/tip…
President Trump just opened the Pandora's box of inflation, by suggesting "certain levels of inflation" could pay off U.S. debt very rapidly. This is a dangerous statement. My analysis: tipswatch.com/2026/10/04/tru…
