My most important and controversial #Birthright tweet ever.
Make #Birthright more adventure friendly β part 2
βWhy did I do this?
βTo create more wilderness adventure locations.

My Twitter is still dead.
From now on, I'm limiting my activity here to chatting with select friends.

Perrin Baudaire, the prodigal son whose destiny was changed forever by the Hundred Years' War.
Perrin is among those great, unsung warriors whom History, due to a lack of documentation, often overlooks despite his accomplishments.
Here is his story, based on the chronicles and archives that the French historian Bertrand Schnerb has managed to compile as best as possible.

Most people, even OSR guys, don't know that Dungeon! By Dave Megarry predates and is 1/2 of the foundation for Dungeons and Dragons by 5 years.
(The Dragon's came from L. Patt's Middle Earth Wargame)

At ArneCon I was able to play in Dave Arneson's Medieval Battle (run by his friend Bill Hoyt) and in Dave Megarry's DUNGEON! (run by Dave himself). Dave, in turn, showed me his old character sheets from the original Blackmoor RPG campaign.
1. Dave Arneson's Medieval Battle seems to have been inspired by or house ruled from or related to Chainmail but it wasn't identical. The setting, map, and factions of this battle later evolved or were repurposed into Blackmoor. As a game, it was beer-and-pretzels, but as a scenario it had PvP RPG elements that were notable.
2. Dave Megarry's DUNGEON! explicitly used the characters, monsters, and combat system from the Chainmail fantasy supplement. DUNGEON! predated OD&D by over a year; Megarry actually introduced Gygax to the concept in a joint meeting with Arneson and Gygax.
3. Dave Megarry said that he, not Arneson or Gygax, was the originator of the idea that deeper dungeon levels were mathematically linked to harder monsters with more treasure. He had studied economics in college and explained how he had developed the dungeon system based on expected return and risk. (Me: "I KNEW IT! IT WAS ABOUT ECONOMICS ALL ALONG")
4. The Blackmoor character sheets that Megarry showed me did not resemble Chainmail or OD&D in the slightest. They had dozens of attributes and skills per character. He couldn't really explain the rules because they were "all in Arneson's head." Arneson and Megarry saw the two (Blackmoor and DUNGEON!) as entirely distinct.
I left the convention somewhat abashed that I had overlooked David Megarry's contribution to the hobby. He is the grandfather, not just of core aspects of the D&D gameplay loop we now take for granted, but of the entire boardgame genre of Descent, Gloomhaven, etc.
Did you know that @Grok is very good in magic items selling?
Thatβs partly cursed Ring of Elemental Control from The #NightBelow adventure.

Chain bikini is good but let's talk about a woman sitting on a throne and spreading her legs.
Which triumphant femininity do you like the most
(and why is it #Birthright one π ) ?
Two more.
Frank Frazetta and Marco Turini.
Especially the first one is interesting as possible source of inspiration for The #Lamia of #Birthright

REVENGE
I'm screaming revenge again
WRONG
I've been wrong for far too long
Been constantly so frustrated
I've moved mountains with less
When I channel my hate to productive
I don't find it hard to impress
Bones in traction
Hands break to hone raw energy
Bold and disastrous
My ears can't hear what you say to me
Hold your mouth for the war
Use it for what it's for
Speak the truth about me
DETERMINED
POSSESSED
I feel a conquering will down inside me
STRENGTH
The strength of many to crush who might stop me
My strength is in number
And my soul lies in every one
The releasing of anger
Can better any medicine under the sun
