Street facing garages are arguably the worse thing to happen to homes in the last half century
Unlike boxy, nondescript apartments, single-family homes meet the unique style and preferences of their owner-occupants. For example, see these four listings in Dundas, Minn:

One of the moments I'm personally proud of in my engineering career was involvement in a road redesign project genuinely focused on traffic calming and pedestrian safety, and we DID include chicanes in the design as a way to force vehicles to slow down.

Autodesk only supports Windows. How am I supposed to do engineering on a mac if none of my tools are supported on macOS.
I can understand engineers who use Linux. I can understand engineers who use macOS. I really don’t understand engineers who use Windows (except windows app developers). By understand I mean I can see the value system they operate under. It just seems bad for non-Windows dev work

I'm voting for the party that has bent the sea to its will.
The weather can and is being manipulated. Wake up. Stop being ignorant or plain stupid. There’s no such thing as coincidences. The most important election in the history of America is 30 days away. PRAY! GA voting has been compromised and don’t know if we will be able to get all our early voting days in. Now, a hurricane is coming straight for Florida. These two states are necessary for a Trump victory! No coincidence. God hides lions inside of sheep. I know you’re in there somewhere. Make the terrified to cheat! This is our Nation to lose or ours to KEEP! @realDonaldTrump
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
While small scale “cloud seeding” to create localized rain is possible, hurricanes and other large storms cannot be produced or manipulated with modern technology. politifact.com/factchecks/202… npr.org/2024/10/03/nx-… usatoday.com/story/news/fac… dri.edu/cloud-seeding-…

Your friend is a moron. The US isn't in a "managed decline" or any other kind of decline. That's his personal anxiety about aging talking. 15 years ago "multipolar world" talk was in vogue. Now, talk is bi-polar with China, maybe. But maybe not because of their problems.
A friend recently texted me -- with an explanation for why non-true believers might vote for Trump. It's below. I also wrote about it in my latest newsletter. Read it for FREE. Subscribe via the link in my bio!

There is no technology to appreciably automate RO/ROs or bulkers more than we presently do, which makes up the large bulk of the longshoremen workforce, and value of goods going through East Coast ports. Automation takes on both sides are brain dead for whats a peripheral issue.
There are not quite 50K longshoremen on strike. For $50B -- chump change, really -- we could give them each $1M to retire in 5 years while we spend some multiple of that to fully automate all the ports. I bet they'd take it, then we could just move on.

Frankly I think the average poster here seems to be underrating how much the general electorate doesn't care about Israel Palestine regardless of who "wins" or what that victory looks like.
People really seem to be underrating the possibility that Israel wins

West Coast ports have long handled the majority of container traffic due to proximity to major Asian sea routes and more recently constraints of post Panamax shipping. East and Gulf Coast are home to the major auto carrier docks & bulk terminals which globally are less automated
That is largely the reason the west coast longshoreman is substantially higher than for the east coast. They accepted automation, but told the employers they would share the gains, and they did.
