1/ If you're the parent of a SEND child/young person, you'll know how invaluable free independent information/advice/support can be. So here's a list of where to find some. Feel free to add!

I give uo - its like they are living in a fantasy world with no idea what having SEND or being a SEN parent is actually like

More on Clr Hadwin's revelations about the SEND system. Plenty of support staff, SalTs, OTs, ASD specialists and reasonable adjustments all available without the need for an EHCP. "social media" is to blame. youtube.com/live/LmThxLn34hc…

Nimbus Disability’s Trustpilot currently sits at 1.3/5, with 98% 1-star reviews. One reviewer says: “After waiting 14 days for a reply the tickets had of course gone.” This is why making #Nimbus a compulsory gateway deserves serious challenge #disability trustpilot.com/review/www.ni…

'Why should your disabled teens get extra money? Mine don't have grandparents to spoil them and the government doesn't give us extra money' Peak #mumsnet 🙄

So according to commentators, disabled people shouldn’t get PIP, Motorbility and now Access to Work? But then they are castigated for not getting or staying in paid employment ? They are damned either way
Access to Work needs to be properly confronted too. There is never any cost-benefit analysis undertaken with any of this. Should the government really be spending tens of thousands of pounds ‘enabling someone to work’ their a £30k job? What is the ultimate pay-off supposed to be?

Maybe, just maybe the shortened breaks and over emphasis on academic exams might be leaving kids much less able to tolerate the school day.
“I’ve been teaching 25 years and low-level behaviour is so much worse than before - part of the problem is, if you address that behaviour, you get a reaction from the parent we never used to get” Is gentle parenting to blame? @jasminenorden finds out. tes.com/magazine/analysis/ge…

Shouldn't a schools number one priority be building relationships? The rest comes much more easily after....
Honestly, if your school's number one priority is not building a school culture where these instances of disruption to lessons below are eliminated to zero, it NEEDS to be.

'Disabled people's rights are under threat'. says actor Ruth Madeley. Madeley stars in Being Heumann, a new film telling the story of disability rights activist Judy Heumann, who led more than 100 young people in a landmark protest at San Francisco’s Federal Building, demanding equal rights for disabled people.

Why are people who have reported on the crisis in SEND shocked by the number of young people not in education work or training??? Do journalists not join the dots? Zero mental health therapies so where do people think the help was coming from?

Oh apparently we are allowed to contact Cllrs, it's just the cc-ing causes extra admin work. Yet the extra admin we have to do emailing, then escalating to managers and then complaining, just to get a reply! is irrelevant. Obviously our time isn't as important as theirs.
Maybe if Cllr Gould did something about the mess of our send services and believed parents who tell him things aren't working, we wouldn't need to cc him in the emails that evidence we've being ignored for weeks....

Reform Councillors in Suffolk: 'Oh you sent me an email and now I have to do some work? yeah sorry I'm resigning this afternoon.' 'I'm the cabinet member for SEND, but don't contact me about SEND related issues' 🙄

Made even better today by Cllr Tony Gould stating in a council meeting he does not believe complaints are going unregistered. This is supposedly evidenced by the increase in complaints 🫣🤦🏼‍♀️

What no one is saying about SEND education, benefits, the NHS and the social care crisis, is that at the heart of it all is austerity policies that have been implemented continuously for 16 years. The UK is in a crisis of its own making - thanks to politicians.

33 days and counting @PeterPrinsley
I've been trying it get hold of our send coordinator @suffolkcc for 20 days and counting. Complaints unanswered, emails ignored, no parent carer forum - fun times and @Ofstednews @RD_EofE think everything is great

#Nimbus cards do not improve accessibility. They lock us out of accessing seats that we are supposed to be able to. Unless we’re willing to •Pay a fee •Have a non medic view our personal information •Be reassessed each 3 years/each year
We've gone from hiding #disabled people away to literally hiding the accessible seats from disabled people. And @nimbusdis and @yorkbarbican are calling this progress and fair!? #disabilitydiscrimination

It’s so ironic that gov are bothered about children having time away from school until your child is #SEND and then they don’t give two hoots. Without intervention, you can see us here months down the line. Chances of NEET getting higher by the day

Parents across Suffolk have told me about the struggles they've faced trying to secure support for their children. So I submitted a Freedom of Information request to Suffolk County Council. The findings are deeply concerning. In 2025/26: ❌ Just 1 in 5 EHCPs completed on time. ❌ Average waits of almost 38 weeks. ❌ 500 SEND Tribunal appeals, more than double the number two years earlier. While some progress has been made, too many families are still being let down. I'll be demanding answers from Suffolk County Council and a clear plan to ensure children receive the support they need, when they need it. Children's futures cannot be put on hold.
