This is an absolutely shocking story. France is pushing the EU to release Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov from the EU sanctions list in exchange for Azerbaijan to release some French prisoners. Serkan Eren, an aid worker and Turkish citizen residing in Germany, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by a court in Iran. STELP, a Stuttgart-based aid organization, said the sentence was issued against Mr. Eren in connection with the charge of “having ties with a hostile country.”
According to the report, Serkan Eren traveled to Iran on June 24, 2025, as a humanitarian aid worker to distribute donated supplies from Germany.

Iranian authorities executed IT expert Hossein Pedaran after what sources familiar with his case described as months of solitary confinement, severe physical and psychological pressure and a forced confession.
Pedaran, born on June 26, 1985, was married and had two children, aged 15 and 11. He was arrested in July 2025 and executed on September 19 at Isfahan Central Prison, also known as Dastgerd Prison.
One informed source told Iran International that plainclothes agents raided Pedaran’s home when he was arrested and seized his personal and work belongings, along with electronic devices belonging to him and members of his family.
The source said Pedran was then held for months in solitary confinement and in detention facilities run by security agencies, where he faced severe physical and psychological pressure.
