The President either didn't hear or didn't recognize the names of the two Americans currently incarcerated in China — Dawn Michelle Hunt and Nelson Wells Jr. But the President did show a keen interest in knowing their names and, in response to the journalist's question, he reflected on his good relationship with Xi Jinping and ability to talk about "a lot of things", especially in light of the upcoming presidential summit on September 24.
