Watch this great investigation by @HardcashProd on @Nigel_Farage. The Real Nigel Farage - my book - sets out NF's contempt for the proper care of public money and his serial failure to vet candidates. Three of his UKIP MEPs went to prison, two for stealing expenses, one for taking bribes from a Russian spy. Not bad apples. But a poison tree. amazon.co.uk/Real-Nigel-Fara…

Brilliant work by cartoonist @BJennings90, perfectly capturing the absurdity of counter-terror policing in the UK. #SallyRooney #SarahHelm

For those old enough to remember the ITV documentary is nothing new UKIP 2014 The same lack of discipline The same lack of accountability The same faces around the same Leader A man who postures but is no Leader An antagonist throughout his career In it for the attention not the job Second lowest attendance as an MEP Mirroring that in Parliament 2024 issues that were nothing to do with him repeated in 2026 Racism, misogyny, sexism 2014 excuses, pub talk, banter, the Establishment are out to get me Limited action or no action - people resign on personal grounds instead of being ejected from Reform A major issue - many now sitting as Independents with the same attitudes, beliefs and social media histories It's a far wider issue than the documentary content and many more will be exposed The same FAILURE and that FAILURE is Farage

Nadine Dorries says we shouldn't be too hard on Reform for the extensive racism and misogyny that exists within Reform, because it also exists within the tory party I don't think she's thought that defence through properly #bbclaurak #BBCBreakfast

So Nigel Farage will prosecute news outlets for reporting things his party actually said? Who does that remind you of?

June 18: 🇺🇸Trump buys up to $500K in Boeing stock. Same day Boeing gets $880M US Navy contract. June 24: 🇺🇸Trump buys up to $250K in Palantir stock. Same day Palantir gets $45.8M government contract. In any functioning democracy, this would be called massive corruption and he would have faced at least 2 years in jail.

Replying to @BBCNews
@BBCNews @bbclaurak having to rely on ITV investigative journalism to criticise Reform. In February the BBC aired ‘Reform: Ready to Rule?’ presented by Kuenssberg. She’s no journalist, just a mouthpiece for Gibb, McAndrew and CCHQ. #bbclaurak

🚨 Ukraine has gathered clear proof that Starlink is being ordered to scupper Ukrainian operations. It is horrific betrayal. This is why all US technology needs to be replaced by European technology for critical European systems - UK included. ALL of it.
Latest: Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph; "exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone." He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation... to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population." He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory." "They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this." He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

Alex seems to have made a mistake and posted his court mandated apology in the middle of the night, so I thought I'd help him out with a repost this morning. I'm sure he wants the most people to see it as possible.
On 19 July 2024, I published two posts on my X account in which I made allegations about Mr Mothin Ali being involved in the Harehills riots. I have accepted these were incorrect and I have jointly made a statement in open Court in order to apologise to Mr Ali and correct the record which is below. archive.org/details/JSIOC-MA…

The more I think about this the more stunning it is. How can a Shadow Culture Secretary think this? You're supposed to advocate for the sector - use critical thinking and strategy to level up EVERY sector- not decimate one for another. Clowns in circuses have more sense.
We will cut the arts & culture budget by £1bn in order to fund 50,000 prison places. Keeping rapists and other dangerous offenders locked up is a priority for the @Conservatives. We will always put community safety first. @RichmoMusic If you need help understanding the numbers, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Always happy to talk you through. thetimes.com/article/77bcee1…

Wanting a career progression is fair enough. Believing a two-year pathway makes you interchangable with a medical registrar is a different level of delusion. If two pathways were genuinely interchangeable, why does only one require years of medical training and rigorous exams?
