A typically compelling clarion call from @RichmoMusic in @thetimes. As Richard says, the audience for Choral Evensong @BBCRadio3 is "roughly the same number of people who attend all the West End’s theatres in any week". Here's to its next 100 years on-air. thetimes.com/culture/music/a…

An excellent piece from @RichmoMusic - he expresses beautifully why Choral Evensong as a service has a special quality - and the wondrous job BBC engineers do to give the broadcasts an extra quality of liminal beauty. Public Soul Broadcasting. thetimes.com/article/3aecf58…

Richard Morrison in @thetimes today: "300,000 people attended the 86 concerts of this summer’s BBC Proms. But one conspicuous absentee was Lisa Nandy. She has been culture secretary through three Proms seasons and hasn’t attended a single one of the 250 concerts in that time."

Replying to @RichmoMusic
Totally agree Richard, we desperately need a world-class venue. But we also need serious artistic vision from our existing ones (classical music is a mess at Southbank). And not sure Rattle has a venue ‘curse’ - after all, Symphony Hall is the best in the UK!

Urgent summary from @RichmoMusic about the desperate state of Music teaching, especially in state schools, as total A Level Music entries dip below 5,000 and GCSEs fall this year as well. @DCMS @educationgovuk - over to you for some quick action please! thetimes.com/culture/music/a…

This would be a disaster, but I have sympathy with Equity. £1000 for a 6-day, 8 performance week is not excessive when you take account of time out of the theatre learning lines, or job insecurity. No theatre in the West End on Saturdays? It could happen thetimes.com/article/2a3d5eb…

As usual @RichmoMusic's column is a must-read for those who care about music education. Richard is right to highlight how important music in state schools is and that successive governments have allowed our subject to become so marginalised 👇 thetimes.com/culture/classic…

Is a £425 ticket a good look for @rbo_org ? "By tweaking the top price we can keep the lower prices down. So this season we have managed to achieve an above-inflationary increase in ticket yield while having a below-inflation increase in ticket prices.” linkly.link/2gQGK

Yes to a ringfenced hotel tax to support the arts orgs that attract visitors to the UK. And yes to entry charges for national museums and galleries, waived if you show a UK passport / ID card. Both are standard almost everywhere else. ⁦@RichmoMusic⁩ thetimes.com/culture/theatre…
