Psych Out and The Savage Seven are the two AIP/ Richard Rush films worth watching. Psych Out was the only Height Ashbury/LSD movie to make money. But his first big studio movie Getting Straight is a must watch. About a former soldier turned english literature phd candidate whose campus explodes in anti-war protests and he negotiates between the backwards thinking administration and the revolutionary students. Ended up getting released 4 days after the Kent State shootings and was Columbia's #1 movie of the year.

Check out Nicholson and Stockwell together in Psych Out, which was a low budget hit before the director went on to do Freebie and the Bean and The Stunt Man.

Look at this cast. The script is that good. This was Michael Douglas' first jump into a lower budget Pulp Fiction type ensemble indie after 20 years of leading man roles.

Film twitter Session 9 talk reminded me of another USA Films gem that did zero business: One Night At McCool's. A great dark comedy about three men who become obsessed with a beautiful young woman who leads them into chaos. Look at that cast. The script is that good. It's amazing. Only avail on Amazon Prime for rental but worth it.

Still thinking about Coyote Vs. Acme and how it fails on every logical level, basically ignores genre, and yet it still functions well in terms of character and emotional impact. And still find it wild that its from same writer as May/December.
