Conservative Councillor for Belle Vale ward in Halesowen. Promoted by Simon Phipps of Halesowen Conservatives, Rear 30 High Street, Halesowen, B63 2PW

Joined April 2010
Ex-Tory MP Peter Gibson takes a swipe at those defecting to Reform UK. He tells me on @bbc5live: "Every single day there's somebody says to me, when are you doing it? Why haven't you gone yet? You'd stand a far better chance in getting back if you stood for Reform. "And what I say to those people is, 'do you really want politicians who simply jump on the latest bandwagon in order to ensure that their careers can continue regardless of which flag they are flying?' "I've been a member of the Conservative Party since I was 16 years of age. I have been through some dark, miserable times. I've seen elections lost and elections won and there is a real important part of our politics... and that's loyalty and commitment and adherence to a set of principles and values. So Matt, I won't be jumping ship anytime soon."

Unlike China, Israel is our ally and a democracy. A good Foreign Sec would be able to make that distinction. Perhaps Labour MPs could put UK national interest first and do their jobs instead of campaigning for airports in Kashmir or promoting Hamas propaganda in parliament.
.@KemiBadenoch it’s disgraceful you are cheerleading another country for detaining and deporting two British MPs. Do you say the same about Tory MPs banned from China? This government will continue to stand up for the rights of our MPs to speak their mind, whatever their party.

At this rate we may as well just let the lawyers run the country. Oh, we have and look how it's turning out now 🤦🏻‍♂️
This ruling is an act of self-harm. Yet more lawfare killing economic growth. The Labour government who were banging on about growth yesterday are too scared to fight for the oil and gas fields that deliver energy security and provide jobs for thousands of people. For the sake of our country, Keir Starmer needs to get serious. He talks a lot, but his actions so far are all hiking taxes and caving to the unions and the green lobby.

Just learned that the Dry January campaign was started by Alastair Campbell and Peter Oborne. I’ve proudly never participated.

Also a very good indicator of the Midlands/South border on this map too. Now just to educate the southerners there's a Midlands/North border too....
Mapped: Britain's "trap-bath" split, also known as whether or not you use a long 'a' in words like "bath" The split is most common in Essex, where 82% use a long 'a' in words like "bath" but not "trap", and least common in Northumberland, where 91% use a short 'a' for both words

Looks like we may be able to add winter fuel payments to the list of things the British taxpayer subsidises for the Scottish Government bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj6k…

Without a total reworking of asylum legislation, we will never end illegal migration. Destination countries need to work together on third-country solutions and proper economic development schemes of countries who accept migrants. Keir Starmer and Labour won't go near this.

Congratulations to Kemi on her election as leader of our great party. An unquestionably strong willed and principled woman who will relish taking this new government to task as we rebuild for the next election 👏

Will local authorities be getting the same? Otherwise, this budget may well cost authorities money given the sky rocketing cost of social care, minimum wage rises and ENICs
Schools will be relieved to hear that they will be fully reimbursed for the rise in employer NIC announced in the Budget after experts said it could cost schools £200m School leaders were told the rise would be fully funded in a briefing last night politicshome.com/news/articl…

Gilts still at a higher rate that after the mini budget, and continuing to spike. FTSE100, 250 and AIM all down today. Markets digesting sluggish growth despite huge tax burden and very little spending or reform to show for it. Getting little coverage today in non-business media
