Look at all these basketball schools becoming relevant in football because of coaching changes. Indiana last year, and now Kentucky and UCLA.

Super senior Tre White would have a senior Jalen Wilson-like impact on this team. He would score a ton. He would rebound a ton. He would be their emotional leader. Did you watch him play in the summer league? A legitimate Big 12 POY candidate if there ever was one.

This is obviously hindsight, but the 2024 season was the dagger in the Leipold era. There was REAL hype entering that year. KU was coming off 9 wins and a bowl victory, ranked No. 22 in the preseason AP Poll and picked 4th in the Big 12.
That team was way better than its record, but completely melted down in the 4th quarter week after week. Then, just to make it even more frustrating, they ended the year beating three straight ranked teams 😂

I made this point last week. He has done Kansas a huge service getting it from where it was to where it is. Earned every dollar. But not much evidence so far he can take to next level.

Lance Leipold deserves a ton of credit for what he’s done at Kansas. He took this program from the projects to the lower middle class. But I’m starting to believe this is the ceiling. KU needs to decide how serious it is about taking the next step.
