Still waiting for @VPrasadMDMPH to to sit down for a real interview or podcast where the host(s) don't kiss his ass with softball questions.
A recent preprint documents an uptick in citations to a handful of journals despite no increases in other statistics associated with real readership. Established brands are not guilty. biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…
I'm being asked to review papers at journals I have never heard of, and when I google these journals, they have insanely high impact factors. Apparently, I am not the only one to notice this.
To be sure, it is a real time change, and the Rams were dumb to land the day before the game, but the 49ers season is not shot. They have 9 days to shift their clock 7 hours. I think they'll be fine
It funny to hear about the 17 hour time different between SF and Melbourne. It is not possible to have have more than a 12 hour time difference, unless you think NY and Chicago are 23 hours apart.
I wondered the same thing. No issues with the punishments doled out to the franchise and agent, but how did Leonard get off scot-free? He just thought someone wanted to pay him 10 mil for doing nothing?

I'm with Jason on this. Preprints changed the game.
So many squirrels were tortured in the 3 hours of REM sleep today. And if you were wondering, mastiffs have crazy high heart rate variabilities...
My 100lb dog and I are tag teaming the @eightsleep app. Got an extra daytime sleep session in from 8am to 5pm, bringing our surplus sleep to nearly 25 hrs!
Most GWAS are meta-analyses that combine new cohorts with older studies, many of which relied on array-based genotyping. At what point is it better to start over with sequencing-based genotypes? More cases/controls is great, but I wonder when WGS resolution outweighs sample size
Spent more time than I care to admit today today trying to upload a table during a routine manuscript submission 🤦♂️. Am I right @_SharmaHarsh
One of the great mysteries of academic publishing is why journals insist on taking large Excel tables, whicha re perfectly functional, searchable, and readable, and converting them into 87-page PDFs that are none of those things.

Does Berkeley have an Enterprise plan that runs out of tokens after 2 questions in Pro mode? Thats the experience at your sister UC across the bay (UCSF)
Public-service warning: @BayAreaClipper made over $200 in unauthorized “parking” charges to my account. Still no refund or explanation despite 4 phone calls and many more emails.

In my experience, a lot of people develop phylogeny software on optimal samples (with specific, sensitive mutation calls and no copy number alterations) and then apply it to suboptimal samples. Thanks for highlighting the importance of these factors.
I have not seen the data, but investors have. All signs suggest that the mRNA vaccine works in a phase III clinical trial.
