Tonight we celebrate. Tomorrow we continue our fight to expand the organics program city-wide.
Wahoo! Good and exciting news! Thank you for taking the time to sign @GrowNYC’s petition restoring their zero waste funding. And if you have a moment, please thank the city for restoring the budget at the link: grownyc.org/petition #saveourcompost

Today was a good step for the rat problem. Please engage in the public comment period!
Reducing rats takes many solutions operating at once, which is why the Council’s Rat Action Plan is critical, but the real key is universal *mandatory* curbside organics collection.👇🏽

@NYCSanitation $4 million is an outrageous amount of money to spend on this type of study. For perspective, it is equal to the total amount NYC spent on composting last year. This money could have gone so much further - imagine 40 100k grants to existing NYC waste experts. SMH

Anna notes that New York City has a 17% recycling rate, so there’s plenty of room for improvement when it comes to NYC’s trash problem. “There’s a big gap between what we’re doing [17%] and what we can do [68% diversion, by recycling & composting fully] news.yahoo.com/meet-trash-wa…

Would love to see a requirement for street fairs, flea markets, etc. required to proved recycling bins and composting. So much trash is being created, and so easy to collect. @SaveNYCCompost @galeabrewer @NYCMayorsOffice
Hope you all can make it! 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
