ALT This was the clean-up with Teddy Bear Project volunteers Members Church Of God International on Saturday 11/15/2025. The fall foliage and weather made for a magical event. We are also glad to see all railings were primed then painted on 11/18/25 while we planted 150 trees. We are collectively working leaps and bounds to restore the watershed in Bronx River Forest at Burke Ave bridge.

ALT Alpha Lehman and EELS were the group that had so much energy on September 20th. There groups planted daffodils to remember lives lost in the 9/11 terror attacks. In this photo Joan Barnes from Friends Of Soundview Park had her group dig a trench to create a edge around the outside of the flowerbed. This was filled with bulbs that will bloom in April each year.

ALT This is Jajuan, a dedicated Bronx River Alliance staff member, who served 69 volunteers plus a dozen staff and Friends Of Soundview Park members lunch at the International Coastal Clean-up Day at Soundview Park. Some volunteers engaged in a park clean-up and others helped remove invasive plants and trees in the butterfly garden. Lunch was generally provided by Bronx River Alliance.🤸

ALT Members Church Of God International has supported stewardship events along Bronx River and at Seton Falls. We thank this dynamic team for help with monarch butterfly conservation at Soundview Butterfly Meditation Garden. We created a new pollinator area for American painted lady butterflies. It will be planted with native perennials that all butterflies can use, however antennaria plantaginifolia will be a special host plant added this fall. Good work MCGI: To God be the glory!!🦋

ALT This is a monarch butterfly in the blue mist plants near purple coneflowers, today at the first if a series of Monarch Butterfly Celebration 2025 events at Soundview Butterfly Meditation Garden. Our 8/23/25 event today was great progress and educational opportunities continue to flow through Teddy Bear Project stewardship. We hope to see everyone at Soundview Park NY4P Daffodil & Native Seed Distribution on 9/6/25. Please register through the link and there are details inside: https://www.ny4p.org/the-daffodil-project

ALT This is another monarch butterfly seen today at 8/23/25 Monarch Butterfly Celebration 2025. The butterfly is perched on a Oak-leaved hydrangea bush at Soundview Butterfly Meditation Garden. The monarch waystation is supporting mating pairs! The next step in conservation is monitoring the milkweed plants for caterpillars and sharing seeds from asclepias syriaca. Common milkweed is thriving in the sunny areas of the garden.🦋

ALT Thank you to Green Guerillas, Materials For The Arts, and volunteers! We packed 40 lunches for MCGI participants at the first of the 2025 Monarch Butterfly Celebration events. Our volunteer greening group helped create more butterfly habitat while learning about the monarch butterfly migration now in full swing.🦋
