I have Crohn’s disease and inflammatory arthritis. I do everything right. I eat healthy, consume very little sugar, exercise, drink a gallon of water a day, and take my medications. Biologics, methotrexate, prednisone when needed.
For nearly a decade, I was mostly in remission.
Then, two months ago, everything changed.
Out of nowhere, I developed a fever, ended up hospitalized, and had surgery the next day. I still need another surgery. After a decade, my biologic stopped working. I'm starting a new treatment this week.
And right now? I'm in pain.
Some mornings I wake up and can barely walk. I can barely use my hands. Crohn's is flaring. Inflammatory arthritis is flaring. Despite doing everything "right."
Because that's the reality of chronic illness. You can do everything right and still get incredibly sick.
I can't take NSAIDs because of Crohn's.
Yet somehow, we've reached a point where the prevailing narrative would have you believe that opioids don't help chronic pain, and conditions like mine shouldn't require them.
I'm here to tell you that Crohn's HURTS. Inflammatory arthritis HURTS. And opioids absolutely CAN help.
I cannot believe how far off the rails we've gone. Patients are suffering, losing access to medications that help them function, and there are STILL people pushing to restrict opioid prescribing even further.
How much more do chronic pain patients have to endure? How much more access needs to be taken away?
When will it EVER be enough?
I will never stop fighting for patients like me. Because I know firsthand what it's like to live in a body that hurts despite doing everything you're supposed to do.
And I refuse to let anyone pretend that pain isn't real or that relief doesn't matter.

SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT…
If i miss one credit card payment, that follows me for 7 years and tanks my ability to get an apartment.
But if a bank gets caught laundering money for actual criminals, they pay a fine that’s less than a rounding error on their quarterly earning and keep operating like nothing happened?
ONCE AGAIN, consequences are only for people who can’t afford to buy their way out of them. I’M SO SICK OF THE HYPOCRISY.

🚨🇬🇧 In the UK, a child at a primary school was branded a racist for refusing to take part in Ramadan
The child said - "Why do we have to do that? I'm not doing that. Do I have to? If I don't will you make me?"
The school responded - "This will be added to your child's behaviour record and the schools log of racist incidents"
Children are indoctrinated
If you refuse you will be punished

This right here is why Americans are extremely frustrated with our benefits and healthcare system
“This letter right here says that my son, who is deafblind, has cerebral palsy, a G-tube, severe brain damage, neuroirritability, epilepsy, and so many other disabilities after bacterial meningitis, will stop receiving Medicaid on Halloween”
“This baby right here Was born 100% healthy with no problems, and then at 7 weeks old he got severely sick by bacterial meningitis and is now completely disabled. And you want to take away his benefits? Why? What is the purpose of that? Who does that serve? I'm so frustrated”
This could happen to anyone, here are some reasons
- Medicaid is renewed annually so there could be a lack of paperwork received
- Income eligibility could have made them lose coverage
- Disability states not recognized due to changes
If this happens to you, here’s what you should do
- Call your state Medicaid Consumer Hotline
- Request a state hearing right away
- Submit any missing paperwork immediately, you typically have a 90 day reconsideration period
- Disability rights lawyers
We need change in our healthcare system and we need it right now
It’s ridiculous foreigners come here and get all this for free and even scam our health care system for billions but Americans have a hard time getting care

The idiots are finally waking up to the harm reduction scheme which is nothing more than a jobs program.
These harm reduction organizations are starting to panic as more people push back against their policies. Now they’re mobilizing in the very states where that pushback is gaining momentum.
CUT THEIR FUNDING OFF!!!
In case you didn’t know, many harm reduction organizations have spent years vilifying the Sackler family while pursuing billions in opioid settlement funds.
Meanwhile, the stigma surrounding prescription opioids has made life miserable for people living with chronic and acute pain.

Apparently, the most dangerous thing about a painkiller is needing a prescription for it.
At least, that’s how some people seem to think.
Walk into any pharmacy and you’ll find shelves of acetaminophen, better known as Tylenol.
People toss it into shopping carts alongside toothpaste and shampoo, barely giving it a second thought.
Take too much, however, and that innocent-looking bottle can cause catastrophic liver damage, liver failure, even death.
Yet somehow, the prescription opioid taken by a patient with debilitating chronic pain is the medication that automatically raises eyebrows.
Interesting, isn’t it?
Now, let’s talk about opioids.
They work by binding to opioid receptors in the nervous system, changing how pain signals are transmitted and experienced.
Yes, they have risks.
Constipation, sedation, physical dependence, addiction, and potentially fatal respiratory depression.
Constipation can often be managed with bowel medications, including osmotic laxatives such as MiraLAX, although some patients require prescription treatment.
And addiction?
It’s a genuine risk, but physical dependence and addiction are not interchangeable.
The brain’s reward circuitry can reinforce repeated opioid use, but developing tolerance or experiencing withdrawal does not establish an addiction disorder.
Here’s where the conversation gets interesting.
We accept that acetaminophen can damage the liver.
We accept that anti-inflammatory medications can cause gastrointestinal bleeding and kidney injury.
We acknowledge those risks, weigh the benefits, and make medical decisions.
But when the conversation turns to opioids, suddenly the existence of risk becomes an argument against the treatment itself.
Why?
Nobody is suggesting opioids are harmless.
They’re not.
Neither are the medications sitting on your bathroom shelf.
The question should never be whether a medication has risks.
The question should be whether its benefits outweigh those risks for the individual patient.
And if a carefully monitored opioid prescription allows someone with severe chronic pain to function, participate in life, and experience less suffering, that benefit deserves consideration too.
Because a medication doesn’t become morally superior simply because you can purchase it next to the toothpaste.
And a patient doesn’t become morally suspect simply because their pain relief requires a prescription.

Quick update for this saga…
Patient called back today with their newly-issued mail-order prescription in hand.
The prescription in question wasn’t even written by their primary physician.
It came from a prescriber they had never heard of/or seen.
I researched the provider on my own, come to find out they have 2 practice addresses: 1 in Ohio and the other in Eagan, MN. PO BOX 211699
Guess who is located in Eagan, MN?
Devoted Medical Group Professional Corporation and related Devoted Medical practices.
So, @DevotedHealth utilized one of their very own physicians to issue a fraudulent prescription for a patient who they’ve never seen or even knew.
Then shipped it off to the patient without their consent, thinking the patient wouldn’t question it?
Wow.

The whole thing was a lie to set up, vilify, and then extract as much money from the Sackler family and Purdue farma as possible. Indivior manufactures the abysmal destructive opioid suboxone, when are they getting crucified for advertising their product, paying off MDs, 'pushing' their product?
The corruption and deception stink to high heaven.

Here in Louisiana, we are the only state that gave every penny of the opioid settlement money straight to the cops. Some departments refuse to give any public accounting. Some have spent the money on all kinds of other stuff including police overtime.

I helped a patient in Canada who was on a 4 month wait for an ESI. In the meantime, she was in a serious flare. She went to her PCP for help making it the 4 months to,the ESI. She was denied all analgesics and even Gabapentinoids or antidepressants, however she was offered MAID referrals twice in the SOAP notes. She left with no help except dying. She was about mid 30’s with 2-3 small children.
This is a heartbreaking, discouraging, and an abandonment to of patients in pain. We know the stats in Canada have increased dramatically in the categories of “pain, or fear of not having access to analgesics when needed,” as well as “I feel I am a burden to others.
How is this a civilized society? It isn’t, it is one of the last signs of a dying empire.
