We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Congresswoman Nita Lowey, a true champion of the U.S.-Israel relationship. Throughout her distinguished career, she stood firmly by Israel, strengthening our alliance with the United States and supporting our security. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones. May her memory be a blessing.

🇮🇱🤝🇲🇲Israeli Embassy in Myanmar renovates local children’s orphanage in dedication to Kfir and Ariel Bibas.
Israeli Ambassador to Myanmar @RuthZakh has shared a heartwarming photo of local orphan children looking at a mural dedicated to the Bibas family.
“We dedicated the reconstruction of a painting by Israeli Or Yogev to the brothers in hope of their return.
After joyfully distributing sweets to the Burmese orphans under the slogan "From Nir Oz Israeli orphans to Myanmar orphans" we went and made another donation at a monestry, whose chief Buddhist monk dedicated a prayer for the return of Ariel and Kfir.
And this morning we can not sleep:
Where are they, those sweet Israeli kidnapped babies and their devoted mother? Where.”

A few days ago, Italian journalist Cecilia Sala was kidnapped and detained by the Islamic Republic in Iran.
Yesterday, Palestinian journalist Shatha al-Sabbagh was killed in the Jenin refugee camp, where clashes continue between Palestinian Authority forces and Hamas and Islamic Jihad men.
Shot by a sniper outside her home, her family stated there was no fighting nearby, suggesting her death was deliberate.
Yet, I see no protests from the “Free Palestine” advocates.
It’s gut wrenching how little attention these tragedies receive when Jews aren’t involved.

13 women and girls are still held captive by Hamas, enduring unimaginable suffering.
In a report detailing the experiences of Israeli hostages, @USGSRSGPatten wrote that there was convincing evidence to suggest that some of the hostages have been subjected to rape and sexualized torture. Adv. @SarahWM2003, @Israel Special Envoy for Women, Peace and Security (UNSCR 1325), and @Shir_Gideon, Director of the #WomenInDiplomacyNetwork, warn that this violence may still be ongoing.
“So long as the hostages remain in custody, and continue to be brutalized by Hamas, we are witnessing the utter failure of the international community to uphold the principles on UNSCR 1325, including the protection of women and girls. We are not only failing Israeli women; we are failing humanity as a whole.”
Why is the international community silent? Why won’t @UNWomen #BelieveIsraeliWomen?

On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, it’s crucial to recognize the various ways women experience violence on Wikipedia.
Let's start with some examples: Zoe Quinn, a game developer targeted during the GamerGate controversy, had her Wikipedia page repeatedly edited to include false and defamatory information as part of a broader online harassment campaign.
Feminist critics like Anita Sarkeesian have faced death threats and targeted harassment. Their work is often attacked by trolls, who also spread false narratives to discredit them.
Dana Parish shared that a fired government scientist stalked her and had her and her husband's longstanding Wikipedia pages vandalized and removed by paying off Wikipedia editors. Police and the FBI were unable to help due to alleged corruption within Wikipedia.
It is also important to remember that violence isn’t always physical and can manifest in many ways, including symbolic extinction. An estimated 90% of contributors on @Wikipedia are men and only 17% of biographies are about women. This imbalance undermines the idea of the wisdom of the crowds and perpetuates systemic inequality.
Wikipedia researcher @shlomitlir has described Wikipedia’s Vicious Circle, where anonymity, a negative reputation, and hostility foster toxic interactions, online harassment, and alienation. These conditions deter women from contributing, reinforcing male dominance and widening the platform’s gender gap.
Her recommendations, including transitioning from anonymity to nonymity for accountability, integrating social media for connection, adopting inclusionist policies, and implementing anti-harassment mechanisms, remain unimplemented.
Despite the need for reform, @Wikimedia has yet to make structural changes.
Evidently, “Everyone can edit” does not include women.

Good meeting with Mrs. Paveena Hongsakul, a dedicated advocate for women’s and children’s rights. We discussed initiatives to empower women, enhance their access to education and healthcare, and protect them from violence and exploitation. It was an inspiring exchange on how to further support and uplift women in vulnerable communities, ensuring their rights and voices are fully recognized.

In the midst of today’s harrowing attack on Israelis in the streets of Amsterdam, a light shone through the darkness, embodied in a single man: Milhem Assad.
Milhem, an Arab-Israeli and lifelong fan of Maccabi Tel-Aviv, did not shrink back as violence engulfed the city. When the mob began targeting Jews and Israelis, Milhem found a way to shield those in danger. Boldly, he would take groups of Jews and walk alongside them, speaking loudly in Arabic. By doing so, he led attackers to believe that these were fellow Arabs—and, time and again, they spared the group, allowing Milhem to guide them to safety.
For hours, Milhem repeated this act, each time risking his own safety to protect strangers. His presence became a refuge, his voice a shield, helping Israelis return to their hotels and find safe passage in a world suddenly turned hostile.
Milhem’s courage and ingenuity remind us that in a world of darkness, even a single light can show the way. His actions stand as a testament to the power of our shared humanity—and a reminder that, no matter how fierce the storm, goodness will ultimately prevail.
