Ahoy! This @nzmusicmonth I'm posting 31 of my favourite #nzmusic compilation albums from over the years. Each day I'll also pick an artist from that day's release, and say one of the best gigs of theirs I went to. Buckle in.

Still undefeated 🔊. @pitchblacknz
Friday night @pitchblacknz proved why they remain an undisputed heavyweight of NZ electronic dub. Magic. Best time I saw them was at the (ill fated) 1999 Sweetwaters Festival. 11pm Sat night on the main stage, with a crazy good sound system and light show.

So one of my favourite songs in the whole wide world is @stef_animal's One Two Three Four Five. It's just the loveliest synthetic popular music ever. But the ONLY place you can find it is a 17 year old CD which I finally nabbed while up in AKL for JunkFest. I still adore it Stef!
Didn't quite manage one of these this year but last year's effort is still fun to look back on for @nzmusicmonth #nzmusicmonth.
Day 2, day 20 and day 26 are all HDU themed - how good is news of their November show, and also Higher EP vinyl coming! (95bfm.com/bcast/guest-interv… @95bFM)

Those HDU lads had better make sure that saucy, lush Soundproof remix of Lull is on their reissue, Sir @StinkInk!
Loving this tonight @martynpepperell 🙏
Hosting the Te Ao Tech show on @RadioActivefm tonight. 100% electronic music from Aotearoa and Te Waipounamu between 7-9 pm. @nzonairmusic @nzmusicmonth
Weaving through the audience to Night Swimmer, then instructing adoring crowd on our dance moves to Low Brow, from a top the bar at Meow 😲. Chelsea Jade's show on Friday night not likely to be forgotten anytime soon by anyone there ❤🎙🎧. So good!
Rest in peace Ernie Abbott. Vice president of the Wellington cleaners and caretakers union, Wellington Trades Hall caretaker, and killed 41 years ago today in the Trades Hall bombing. Never forgotten. Rest in power.

The tail end of 'I Only Said' off Churn by @Shihad_Band last night at Meow Nui. An absolute giant of NZ metal 🖤. Was just like being back at the Powerstation in the 90s for me. They spoilt us with a 3 and a half hour set, and was quite moving as they wrapped up at the end.
Look my liberal high-culture RNZ-only friends may mock this, but I dont care - I stand by talkback radio. Tonight on Marcus' show - are there more traffic lights or roundabouts in NZ? Spoiler - it's roundabouts - but the calls & texts are a lovely window on our towns and cities🌏
