Excited to announce my article for @RealChangeNews, “Undoing Seattle’s spatialized apartheid,” just won first place in racial equity reporting in the small publication category at the Northwest SPJ awards. Thank you so much @SPJWash for the recognition! It really means a lot 🥰
Racial Equity Reporting - Small First Place: Guy Oron, "Undoing Seattle's spatialized apartheid," Real Change Judge's comments: Guy Oron's "Undoing Seattle's spatialized apartheid" was thoroughly researched, well-organized, and very well-written. And then there are the "little touches" (NOT so little!): two examples, working interviewees' comments into the story to illuminate key points-and showing differing points of view in a coherent way; giving examples of reparations in other parts of the US. Very effective.
