And as pointed out by @RealChangeNews & @GuyOron the total over the last three years, two fifths of those 'sweeps' were carried out under severe weather conditions xitter.cf/lelulolololol/status/1…
At least 5632 sweeps in three years.. that averages out to ~1877 sweeps a year or 5+ a day... with at least 2388 sweeps carried out during severe weather, averaging out to ~796 severe weather sweeps a year or 2+ a day over that period. Horrific cruelty by the City of Seattle.

ALT black text white background: When looking at the number of sweeps carried out during the three-year period that was studied — 5,632 sweeps in total — more than two fifths of them were estimated to have been done during a severe weather event. According to Real Change modeling based on the ordinance language, 251 sweeps were conducted during what could be considered severe heat days, 2,024 during severe cold days and 113 during severe air quality days. 3,275 sweeps, or about 58.1% of the total, were carried out on days with no severe weather event.

The city spent $89,000 on a sweep of the BLM garden not counting what was spent on SPD that day, and conducted an average of 5+ sweeps a day for 3 years, put a SODA zone over the park, gave housing money to SPD/jails, and the county kept the youth jail open. Who is this for?

After months of advocacy by Nickelsville, and a week after I reported on Seattle's cancellation of its Brighton Village in @RealChangeNews, the city seems to have reversed course. HSD said this Wednesday that Nickelsville can resume developing the site into a tiny house village.

NEW: In August, Seattle canceled Nickelsville’s proposed 15-unit tiny house village in Rainier Valley. Until now, it was not clear why. Records obtained by @RealChangeNews show that about a dozen neighbors complained to the city prior to the permit denial.

Last month, the Burien City Council passed a new anti-homeless camping ban, making it illegal to camp or store objects on public property at any time.
The ban comes less than a year after the Supreme Court's #GrantsPass decision, reports @GuyOron.

Eugene Martin, an unhoused Burienite & Real Change vendor, spoke to @GuyOron about the camping ban:
"It's ridiculous. What is good is it going to do jail people that don't have a home? It's not going to do any good, unless you're trying to kill us."
