🔈Today the Government launched the Financial Inclusion Strategy 🔈 I am proud that economic abuse is a cross-cutting theme throughout the Strategy. In my first PMQ last year I raised economic abuse, and I am pleased to see that call to action answered today. This Strategy includes action to tackle the impact of economic abuse on victim-survivors' credit scores. This progress reflects the incredible work of @SEAresource, whose expertise have helped shape the Strategy.

4.1M UK women experienced economic abuse last year. Earlier this week, @SEAresource led a roundtable at Guildhall bringing together government, financial services and the third sector to tackle this hidden harm. Speaking at the event, Tijs Broeke, Chair of Police Authority Board said, “Economic abuse is silent, insidious & devastatingly real.” We’re working with @CityPolice to make sure economic abuse is recognised, recorded & addressed urgently. @TheFCA @HSBC_UK @UKFtweets

🚨New research by my office shows that domestic abuse is everyday business for the Family Court – but the system is still failing adult and child victims.🧵

Coercive control doesn’t stop when the relationship ends. It often changes shape. In family court, it can look like: •Endless applications •Withholding child maintenance •False allegations •Last-minute contact cancellations This is abuse. 🧵 #CoerciveControl #FamilyLaw
