with @RyanCookAMR and many others we have been working on INPHARED to incorporate more QC data and predictions, make it scale with increased data, and some basic visualisation of the data. Files will be linked from here phagebank.uk/inphared2/ in the future

Happy to have played a small role in this cool piece of work led by @Teag4Phage in the lab of Evelien Adriaenssens. She looked at the impacts of using a phage cocktail in a batch-culture fermentation colon model 🦠 #phages

During my PhD, @milja001 and I started counting phage genomes, and tried to make them available in useful formats with useful metadata. We also described the extent of sequenced phage genomes at the time. Five years on, we've had a look at what's changed

We're also putting out a fully updated pipeline with defence (and anti) predictions, lifestyle predictions and other fun improvements. Community involvement in this project has been great over the last 5 years and I hope this continues!
Been really fun to re-visit this with Branko Rihtman, @APonsero , @SMichniewski , @telatin , @TSPKU , Evelien Adriaenssens and @milja001

Really happy to have played a small part in this cool piece of work led by @GuidoValverde_ & @msabrysarhan. We characterised S. pyogenes in a pre-Columbian Bolivian mummy (suggesting circulation before European contact) #VivaBolivianMummies

Really enjoyed writing a piece for @ConversationUK - trying to write for a general audience, you suddenly realise how much jargon is deeply embedded in your brain #Phages #Microbiome #SciComm

New pre-print alert! 🚨🫁
COPD affects millions worldwide. While we know bacterial dysbiosis drives disease, the role of bacteriophages remains unexplored. We re-analysed 135 COPD metagenomes to characterise the lung virome for the first time 🫁 1/9
