I will henceforth be using this as an excuse for all future mistakes I make around my partner
Interacting with attractive women makes men stupid.
The researchers found that even a few minutes with the attractive woman was enough to make the students slower and less accurate on the test.
The more attracted they were, the worse their results.
They also studied the effects on women students of being in the company of handsome men, and found the test scores were unaffected.

My bias is to agree with AI-sympathetic posts bc doomers annoy me, but this seems not smart.
Sure, if you have already worked everything out prior to writing then go for it. But this is never ever the case. Writing shapes thinking just as much as thinking shapes writing
Trump has always been shockingly insightful about the nature of the relationship between him and his audience
interesting that smart people can misunderstand moral criticism of elon as criticism of elon as a bad businessman. It seems like it should be easy to keep those ideas separate.
Good businessmen and innovators can engage in a lot of lying & conning, and still get things done.

Hmm. Con-men don't make better rockets that were previously thought impossible. Likewise global internet connectivity.
This is definitely still uncanny valley territory. If I didn’t immediately assume I was talking to an AI, I would think I have been drugged or that I’m going crazy. Impressive step though.
Fear can bring out our inner child. AI doomerism is doing that to a lot of people. Pinker deals well with that immaturity here:

Having AI try to talk you out of doing a research idea is much more useful than what it does otherwise
Psuedo-panic about incredible risks, like “AI will kill everyone—no man left standing” undermines the real (although less dystopian risks) that we should be worrying about. @GaryMarcus lays those out here:

The schadenfreude I am seeing here following Arday’s death is extremely gross and shows how truly poisonous this platform is.
Incredibly sad story.
I think the fix here is not to prevent AI detection, but for AI writing to be less stigmatized, and for evaluators to judge a text based on its merits (ai or human)
We should not lose sight of the fact that ai writing is not bad bc its is ai and that is bad…
Ai writing is bad bc it lacks good judgment and cant distinguish between pedantry and insight. That is why you should avoid using it.
I don’t see why, if ai accidentally does a good job, that should impact the evaluation of the paper…
