This is the best thing to happen to the Effective Altruist movement ... ever.
The United States will NEVER be an effective altruist country. 🇺🇸

This is absolutely not true and will mislead people. Explanation below.
To be clear: Walking away from studies that don’t support your ideas is a form of research misconduct.

Remember when they said Trump would get us into a full-blown war with Iran? Times like these should make us all realize how lucky we were to have Trump, his strength and his resolve.

Francis Fukuyama on the U.S. as a declining power: American decline is a direct product of Trump's rise since 2016. It is as if Trump had decided to do everything in his power to weaken the United States vis-à-vis China. He has polarized an already polarized country, cut funding for basic scientific research, and attacked American universities which are the best in the world. He and his colleagues have openly stated that their domestic opponents — the Democrats — are a far greater threat to the future of the United States than either China or Russia. There is agreement among America's friends and rivals that the United States has become something of a rogue state that is contributing to global instability and disorder — as well as something of a laughingstock.

This is who's running the government.
RFK Jr: "A Democratic senator claimed it's mathematically impossible to have a drug drop by 600%. I said, 'Well, if the drug was $100 and it raises to $600, that would be a 600% rise. If it drops from $600 to $100, that's a 600% savings.'" Trump: "Right"

Next time a doomer asks you why AI has to be completely unregulated and advance at a dangerous pace, here's your reply: "Oh, so you'd rather wait another five years before we solve the wild boar problem?"
Video of a humanoid robot chasing wild boars out of a Warsaw neighborhood and into the woods — and then waving goodbye — has gone viral in Poland. abcnews.link/jGIt1Lm

The (relatively) optimistic take on Trump's "a whole civilization will die tonight": He's preparing to declare victory and go home after just a day or two of intense bombing as opposed to weeks. That possibility occurred to me when he earlier said we might be able to do the whole thing in a day (or a night or whatever he said). Of course, if he indeed is going to wrap it up in a day or two (or three), that will be a period of horrendous bombing--and it's terrible to be in a situation where we're "hoping" that America will only commit war crimes on a huge scale for 24-72 hours. But that's where we are.

The American president threatens 'a whole civilization' in an undeclared war while the vice president campaigns for a post-liberal authoritarian. Whatever happens today in Iran, something is already dying in the United States.

BullshitBench v2: by community request - Meta models added - Llama 4 Maverick, Scout and 3.1 8b - they don't rank too badly 39, 51, 56 (out of 80 variants tested). P.S. I've discovered that if you have an open source project people actually raise issues and ask you questions, which I've been neglecting, so apologies I will do better 😁
BullshitBench v2 is out! It is one of the few benchmarks where models are generally not getting better (except Claude) and where reasoning isn't helping. What's new: 100 new questions, by domain (coding (40 Q's), medical (15), legal (15), finance (15), physics(15)), 70+ model variants tested. BullshitBench is already at 380 starts on GitHub - all questions, scripts, responses and judgements are there so check it out. TL;DR: - Results replicated - @AnthropicAI latest models are scoring exceptionally well - @Alibaba_Qwen is another very strong performer - OpenAI and Google models are not doing well and are not improving - Domains do not show much difference - rates of BS detection are about the same across all domains - Reasoning, if anything, has negative effect - Newer models don't do that much better than older ones (except Anthropic) Links: - Data explorer: petergpt.github.io/bullshit-… - GitHub: github.com/petergpt/bullshit… Highly recommend the data explorer where you can study the data and the questions & sample answers.
