As you know, these are difficult days in Israel, but the Scientific work has to continue. What started as an open discussion over Twitter/X has matured into a review of #PIFE doi.org/10.1088/2050-6120/ac… Enjoy the read
Nice implementation of UIFE (originally PIFE). Should we start referring to it as photo-isomerization induced fluorescence enhancement (PIFE) in general?

How does the structure of target DNA affect CRISPR/Cas9 off-target activity during gene editing? We show that negative DNA supercoiling dramatically reduces Cas9 specificity. Find out more here: doi.org/10.1016/j.molcel.202… @MolecularCell @LUMICKS_nl @MRC_LMS @TheCrick @ucl

Besides BRCA2 directly binding to RPA-ssDNA, we also observed BRCA2 molecules moving along the dsDNA arms! Some of them were even able to reach the gap edge and nucleate RAD51. We calculated BRCA2 diffusion rates using MSD analysis w/ help from @arthur_pol in @RuedaLab. (6/10)

Cold Spring Harbor Lab: Where White People Talk About DNA.
Yuck. Cold Spring Harbor Lab meeting "celebrating" 50 years of recombinant DNA is a #manel #YAMMM With a history of issues in sexism (e.g. Watson) at CSHL this is sad. And bonus featuring Lander w/ his own history of issues as session chair & panel discussion leader

This is beautiful. Making one protein, from one mRNA, takes minutes. This method images single mRNAs as they are translated by ribosomes. And can do it for >1 hour. Translation is start-stop; not continuous. (mRNAs = red; translation sites = green). cell.com/molecular-cell/full…

Look at this awesome processivity of chromatin remodeling enzymes! Green for nucleosomes and red for remodellers (RSC & ISW2). Note that we had to strobe green excitation for Cy3 due to its rapid photobleaching whereas JFX554 (@rhodamine110) survives the entire episode.
