📢 Ready to rethink XIST? Our latest work, now in Cell, challenges two fundamental assumptions about XIST: its cis-limited action, and its role in equalizing gene expression between XX and XY genotypes. Dive in 👇🤿(1/6) sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Excited to share new work from the lab led by @draabbasi; we show that cerebellar stimulation increases neural synchrony in stroke perilesional cortex. This might help explain the facilitatory effects of cerebellar stim on stroke recovery. #stroke jneuroengrehab.biomedcentral…

I stepped down from NIH study section NANO this week. Between NANO & the 32 other study sections I have served ad hoc, I learned many things about how to construct a good grant. Thus, I give you a song themed thread of potentially helpful grant tips!

First cryoEM of de novo methylation shows DNMTs interacting with entire nucleosome (not just histone tails). Interesting choice to use cat. inactive isoform of DNMT3B instead of DNMT3L (DNMT3-Like-Like?) nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

Who cares how healthy a mouse is? Scientists do. Today we published @NatureComms AI-derived, simple-to-use frailty clocks that predict a mouse's biological age and when it will die, speeding up aging research & paving the way for similar clocks in people tinyurl.com/y2yfoee2

A new set of Answer ALS project data is now available through the Answer ALS Data Portal! The release is a milestone not only for the program but for the field of ALS research. #Together bit.ly/AnswerDataRelease
Congrats to @CedarsSinai grad student Michael Workman on his stellar socially-distanced defense. Using iPSCs he created a blood-brain barrier on a chip and a gut on a chip and will now (a relative term) be connecting the two to study Parkinson’s.
