A statement from the Pittsburgh Penguins

Team physician, Dr. Dharmesh Vyas of UPMC, as well as the team’s medical staff were on board and immediately attended to Ben. An ambulance was waiting upon arrival, and he was taken to the University of Utah Hospital for further evaluation. Ben is conscious, alert and in stable condition. Jeff Blashill took some blame for the Blackhawks' poor breakouts, saying they hadn't worked on it enough. They are working on it this week, particularly "goalie-touch" breakouts from behind the net.
"We've got to make sure we get back and we're clear on: 1) our support — you've got to sprint back and help each other out — and 2) who's open, how our talk is."
I don't think the first line was even that bad.
This is how that line is constructed. With a rookie playing with Bedard and Kane, you expect defensive breakdowns. All three players are solid finishers who couldn't finish, and that'll positively regress.
#Blackhawks
The Hawks are constructed in this way:
1st line: high event offensive hockey, hopefully outscoring what they allow
2nd line: matchup line against top competition
Whether or not you think it's fair that Frondell is already in that role, that's the reality of this roster. They won't beat up on elite teams, and that's okay.

Blackhawks defenseman prospect Xavier Villeneuve with two primary assists (his first two college points) in BU's 2-1 overtime win tonight.
There goes the dream of an extra lottery pick for the #Blackhawks!
Again, the #Blackhawks patterns off the rush are very erratic and individualistic.
Any mistake leads directly to odd man rushes the other way.

I somewhat agree with this, but with three caveats:
1. His teammates have a ton to do with this. Apart from the obvious "he's played with linemates that suck" argument, there's the fact that the PP netfront player is Bertuzzi. He almost always jumps out of the goalie's sightline to seek backdoor tap-ins, which he's really good at. But it gives goalies clear vision of the entire release.
2. Injuries and slumps have affected this to an unusual degree. His sophomore season was a slog with a billion different line combinations and no confidence, and his frustration came through with really weird habits in transition. He was also noticeably less comfortable with his release when he came back from injury last year.
3. This all strikes me as something that's incredibly coachable. If he reaches a point where his very telegraphed toe drag serves as a form of deception to set up low shots, simpler snapshots, and playmaking, this conversation would look very different.
As a tool his wrister is still absolutely ridiculous. Patrick Kane (for example) isn't being performative when he looks shocked at Bedard's wrister giving him an easy assist. He just hasn't fully put together how to turn that ridiculous tool into generational-level goalscoring.

Edmonton didn't sell out their last home game. Vegas hasn't sold out their last three.
NHL teams need to be really careful about taking their fans for granted. It's getting real expensive out there and fans don't have the same kind of money to pay for tickets + parking + food.
