I’ve written about hockey analytics for 15 years. In that time, I always wanted a site that dug into not only IF a player is good, but when, why, and how. Something to help writers and fans tell those stories.
3 months ago I started building it
... and today, it's live!
Devin Cooley with a phenomenal night that wins most games if you can get just a little bit of help, and that's exactly what Morgan Frost provided.
JBD is a top-tier shot blocker with above-average defensive results, but his struggles through the neutral zone put in in a position to make those blocks far too often. Certainly not useless, but you'd prefer not to see a ton of him.
If you have work you're proud of and think you've improved on the public understanding of a topic, we want to hear from you at Post Hockey!

Kovacevic and Chisholm got buried, with the Devils taking just 22% and 29% of expected goals in their minutes. The Caps scored on them twice.
Jack Hughes had a rough one, too.

JP did a great job on this. If you have work in an unconventional or oft-dismissed corner of NHL analytics and would like it shown on Post Hockey, hmu.
If I can validate its utility independently, I will gladly display your metric and cite your work.
Honored CJ included my faceoff value model in his new site — if you have not already, do go check it out for metrics/analytics that aren’t necessarily readily available outside of his site.
Seriously, it’s a must-use at this point.

NJ did have some clear positives, but uncharacteristically struggled in the 2nd period and Allen couldn't absorb that deluge the way Thompson did in the 3rd. Still not a 5-alarm fire, but probably going to need to beat an actually good team at some point if we're gonna believe.
