We’re pleased to be part of Nafasi, a new pan-African initiative running from 2026–2028 to strengthen digital safety and inclusive online participation across Sub Saharan Africa. Led by Magamba Network and implemented with DefendDefenders and Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement (RFLD), Nafasi will support civil society actors to respond to growing digital threats and promote safer, more inclusive digital spaces. From online harassment to disinformation, digital risks continue to affect civil society across the continent. Through Nafasi, we aim to support journalists, women human rights defenders, young activists, and grassroots actors to organize, communicate, and participate more safely online.

Cet atelier a été très éducatif et enrichissant. Il nous a permis de mieux comprendre les questions de cybersécurité, tout en sensibilisant à la protection et à la sécurité des femmes. I attended a cross border workshop this week, small French for this side 🤣.

📍Dakar, #Senegal 🇸🇳 From November 10 to today, we are actively participating in the Regional Consultation for Francophone CSOs and Activists! The Consultation is organized under the theme “Afrofeminist Initiative for Human Rights Development” by the @RfldOrg. Representing Amb. @WilCarew (Head of the ECOSOCC Secretariat), the Chair of Political Affairs at ECOSOCC, Dr. Eyole Monono, highlighted the critical role of @AU_ECOSOCC in the promotion and protection of #humanrights in #Africa. Dr. @EyoleMonono clarified citizen participation mechanisms in continental decision-making processes, enabling CSOs to understand how to influence AU policies, contribute to debates on regional integration, and ensure grassroots concerns shape the African agenda.

Dr. @EyoleMonono underscored ECOSOCC’s role as the official voice of African civil society within the @_AfricanUnion and expressed confidence that through the implementation of the ECOSOCC National Chapters Framework across member states, the bond between CSOs and the African Union organs and governments will be deepened in pursuit of #Agenda2063. The Regional Consultation has brought together over 40 leading human rights advocates and change-makers from across the continent to: ● Strengthen their understanding of African and international human rights mechanisms; ● Engage directly with the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR) to explore how to influence policy and enhance protection for #humanrights defenders; and ● Reimagine leadership through an Afrofeminist lens, fostering innovation and inclusion. The @RfldOrg holds Observer Status at the @achpr_cadhp and sits on the Working Group on Human Rights Defenders. It champions gender-sensitive reforms and strengthens protection for women human rights defenders.
